Something about the taste and experience for me. I haven't had this problem with Ames Lager but I've had canned beers from other local brewers that were flat or expired upon opening. I've never had that issue with bottled beer.

We used to use glass bottles but switched to cans about six years ago. The cost is much greater for the glass, light is a huge enemy of beer and it also went against who we are as a brewery. Using glass at the beach or outside isn't the look for a brewery that promotes drinking outdoors. Now, don't get me wrong, when I want a Busch Latte, you better believe I prefer it in a bottle.
If I’m drinking out of the container it comes in I prefer a bottle over a can but always choose pouring it into a glass if that’s an option.
