You wartch what you say there sis...

:jimlad:

I think I'm the only one in the family who DOESN'T say "warsh." Does Dad? I'm trying to hear him say it in my head.

Makes sense. Had to impress the “ye-Adies”

He was even young for his class, so it was impressive he shook it off!

WI accents can be interesting in their contrasts.

Seems like it's either general 'baaaag' stuff, but there can be the quiet 'Oh ya, ders bears here. Saw one two years ago, and just said, 'oop, hey Mr. Bear' and it ran up da hill' (conversation I actually had with a fisherman once) or the louder 'OH yeah, the PACK-ers and BADG-ers, let's get some brAt-werst'.

I just did the test and my three cities were: Santa Rosa, Reno, and Modesto. It's funny and kinda scary (to be so right-on) at the same time. I was born and raised in Story County until age 16, then lived for the next ten years near or in Santa Rosa. I was thinking most of my answers were pretty midwestern. I guess not!

Minneapolis, Des Moines, Grand Rapids.

I've lived in the Twin Cities for 29 years and in Iowa for 23 years. I must be speaking like the people around me, just with greater elegance.

Yeah, even being away relatively briefly can change things. I've been back in Iowa / SD for 20+ years and can't say pop...it's soda now. But I can't break ant either.

I lived in RI for awhile and I absolutely called the drinking fountain a bubbler and a sub a grinder. They call milkshakes "cabinets", that I couldn't do. And turn signals are "directionals".

I currently live in Rhode Island. Other than grinder, I haven’t heard anyone say any of the other things.
