Hello fellow fanatics I need your help! My girlfriend recently just moved into a new house, and I've noticed in the backyard a few ant hills. I've been trying everything to get rid of them, but haven't had much luck. Does anyone out there having any remedies they can think of? Or have any of you had any luck with any certain products to get rid of them? Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If the ant killer doesn't work.

A good dose of bug-b-gone granules dropped into the lawn every so often should do the trick.

I've been using the Terro Granual stuff. Is there other stuff I should try from Terro?

I've never used the granual stuff. Only used the liquid. It's a little tougher to get to work outside because it will evaporate, but if you can get it close to the nest and keep it covered so it doesn't burn off in the sun, I think it would be better than granular. Could be wrong I suppose, but I had a massive nest under a garage once. Just kept putting that stuff out there, in the shade, close to the activity, and about a week later...nothing left.

Are ants bad for your yard? As long as they are not getting in the house, I couldn't care less. Every spring, Ive always sprayed around the house with Ortho Home Defense, and we've never had issues.

If the nests get big enough, they are rather unsightly, and not much fun to step on.

I've also had good luck with the orange can of terro granules. Takes some time, but you'll get them eventually.

Bayer Fire Ant Killer works wonders for me. For some reason, the granules never seem to work for me, but this Bayer one in powder form has never failed me. It's also very fast. Pretty much same day or by the following day they're all dead.

I hate ants. Particularly fire ants. Those bites itch so bad. Little bastards got me a couple times the other night.

This morning I noticed them just outside my garage and just inside. Should I try this stuff or just not mess around and call and exterminator? I'm afraid they might be fire ants
