Where they love the governor
I hate ants. Particularly fire ants. Those bites itch so bad. Little bastards got me a couple times the other night.

Grab some crazy ants. They'll fix that problem in no time!

Sidebar: My wife and I got married outside Houston. Nobody in the wedding party (except 1 guy) was familiar with fire ants. The wedding photographer had us take some pictures in front of the church in the grass. Bridesmaids stepped in fire ant nests. Interesting photos ensued.

When I was a kid, there were leaf cutter ants where I grew up. They make fire ant bites seem like nothing. Also, their colonies are huge and where I lived the soil was mostly clay and it rained about 9-10 months out of the year. This made their mounds damn near indestructible.

Terro Ant Killer works like a charm. It's basically borax, so safe for pets (in moderate amounts) too.

After further research, the ant hill in my garage doesn't appear to be fire ants, as it doesn't look like they're here in Iowa (at least not the aggressive ones). I'm trying to be humane; I've read sprinkling cinnamon will keep them away. My concern with this is if I do this in the garage, they will move to a different spot closer to the house in the garage. Should I try this?

Take a garden hose.... stick it into the ant hill. Turn it on. Drown them out. Move the hose to different spots on the hill once it overflows.

Online said it wouldn't work, but it took care of a couple in my yard last year.

Just kill them before they get in the house and you have to lay liquid Terro out all over the place.

Those could be what bit me the other night, since I was standing on the sidewalk outside our apartment where there are regularly form huge lines, carrying bits of leaves. I didn't even know leaf cutter ants lived down here, until I moved into this apartment. You don't usually have issues with fire ants unless you step on or near their mounds, in my experience.
