Is he a 2 or a 3? I'm hoping he's a 2, but I really don't know his game.

I really think he could play either position. He's a better shooting Rhashon Clark or a quicker Lucca Staiger. I think his natural position would be small forward, since he can slash to the basket and finish with thunderous dunks, ala Clark. But he also can hit around 40 percent from 3, at least he did in high school. I'm not sure how good his handle is for guard though.

Edit: I wrote this before I read any of the other responses. those of you saying he's not a good shooter, where are you getting this? He shot 43 percent from 3 in high school. That was one of his strengths. He's also a high-flier who is a highlight waiting to happen. He averaged 17 points a game and 13 RBs, playing on a team where he was not the primary scoring option. Jamil Wilson was a Rivals 4-star and the offense went through him first.

There is only 2 ways Oliver sees the court next year. Our guards get in serious foul trouble. (which i still dont see him getting on the court). And if we get alot of injuries, then he will see the court maybe.

I have been told by a few people really close to the program that he just isnt that good and not a high division 1 player.

I don't know who told you this, but I have heard nothing but good things about AO. He may not see the court a lot, but he will most definitely see the court.

Withour lack of upperclassmen depth, I think there's playing time to be had for any freshman (redshirt or otherwise) that wants to earn their way out there.

I think AO's quickness and length on defense could lead to a lot of easy baskets, which could make him a really nice contributor.

I thought I heard one of the coaches say he was a really good shooter?! I think his biggest weakness is obviously strength. The guy might be skinnier than DG was as a fresh

Via Cyclones.com with the past basketball rosters, when Garrett was a freshman he was 6'4'' 180 lbs. They listed Oliver last year as 6'6'' 175 lbs. Never know what's really the truth as those rosters always seem to exaggerate the truth, but yeah, Oliver needs to definitely add some weight/muscle (which is obviously why he was redshirted last year).
