Sounds like a lot of people have been thinking about this - This is great. I haven't been to a UNLV game in Vegas since the '80's (Wisconsin). If things haven't changed too much with their fan base, we could be louder than they are!

I still remember the game in Ames a couple years ago with their foot stomping on our logo after they lost - and their coach tripping in our end zone and breaking the fall with his face! Time to give them a lesson in class!

I have a time share (1 block off the strip) booked for that weekend (Friday - Monday). A friend from college who was an intern for the team as a video guy is getting the tickets. All I have left to do is figure out travel, but since I live in L.A. driving is always an option. Looking forward to the game, I can't wait.

Allegiant still isn't booking out of DSM yet for September (at least not online) . I hope rates stay in the ballpark they are now. $278 non-stop. I'm sure they will go up a bit.

The other airlines all looked to be one-stop, but they start around the same price ($275 is the lowest I just found).

Southwest is direct from Omaha. I only fly to Iowa thru Omaha or Kansas City.

I have zero interest in driving to KC or Omaha. It would have to be a heck of a deal to burn a couple hours drive time, cost of gas, hotel (depending on flight time), more expensive parking rates, etc. I haven't figured the exact dollar amount it would take, but I would think tickets would have to be at least $150/ticket or more savings to make it worth my time to not fly out of DSM. In the old days, that might have been the case but you just don't see that difference anymore.

Same here. Once you add up the extra money for gas, etc. it's not worth it. When I lived in Seattle I flew back a lot, and on Northwest DSM was usually a little cheaper than OMA. Plus, I'll gladly spend a few extra dollars to support the local airport. As stupid as some of the "Des Moines International - Smart" advertisements are, there's definitely some truth to the fact that if you drive to Omaha or KC, you are telling the airlines "that's ok, I'll come to you."

#%#%$@@!! What is the holdup with Allegiant?

Regarding game tickets - is it safe to assume if you're a season tix holder and Nat Cyclone Club member, that you shouldn't have any trouble getting game tickets as long as you jump on them the day they go on sale? I just don't have any idea about the demand or how many tix ISU is alloted. Anyone know or have any educated guesses?
