Anyone else disgusted with the officials?

It will be interesting to see how many fouls are called on West Virginia when they play Kansas

KU @WVU is appointment TV for me.

I think if we have KU on our jerseys tonight we probably win by 20, West Virginia got 23 from Staten and I didn't see anything else on the rest of their team I'd call "offense" the entire night, even the 3s they made all clanged around and in.

Did he even get ball? Looked to me like he just blew past without touching anything.

Also LOL that they played that slugfest without Staten getting a single foul. We will blow these guys out of the water in Hilton if they try pressing like that playing without the refs in their pocket.

Yeah, I don't think he touched anything. Shooter just flopped.

Love it when HFCS gets going about officials. He's like the anti-Brent Blum.

You really want to wind him up and watch him go, tell him you think Nebraska basketball has a shot to get into the top 25 this year! Then get out of the way....

Hey - most everyone else has to play there yet. I'm encouraged, not discouraged

My thoughts ....

1) I completely agree that the calls were against us

2) pretty easy to say I have a personal bias being a cyclone fan - every fan will ultimately feel cheated by refs at some point in every game they watch in which their team is playing.

3) in defense of the refs ... it's tough to see everything when you're sprinting up and down the court ... tired ... and having to see through guys a foot taller/wider than you ... that being said it's still your job to call it right. We're also very privileged to have the camara views, angles, replay etc ...

4) lots of non cyclone fans, even ESPN has picked up on ISU being hosed in multiple games in multiple sports in the last couple years.

5) In tonight's game I found it amazing how many times WV was able to get away with mugging us but then we would get called for such a small amount of contact. What we were called on were fouls but the amount of non calls on them were atrocious.

Maryland and South Carolina played physical...but they also were flat out the better team those nights.

West Virginia was clearly worse than ISU tonight, and horrible officiating nearly flipped what should have been an obvious result.

Just call it like I see it in the 1-2 game a year where the officiating clearly decides the game (or makes it close like tonight). Maryland and South Carolina roughed us up too...but the officiating had nothing to do with those losses.

Had we lost tonight would anyone really have remotely thought WVU looked like the better team? 5 on 8 out there, huge win given that hurdle to clear.

I think the ref who had a foot injury was only watching the side where we were on defense. 1 of the major reasons I think fouls were not called "both ways" tonight.

The first foul on Monte was awful.

I was thinking about that when he picked up his fifth. His fifth was a clear foul, Staten is just a beast, that fifth is a patented Kane move from last year...but that legit foul shouldn't have fouled out Monte given how much contact there was and Staten being magically foul free all game.

Classic negotiation tactic. Similar to KSU football.
Until refs call it differently, constant contact is really the way to play defense. Why be called for 80% of your weak fouls when you can be called for 50% of your muggings? But the FTs were basically even, so the game was called fairly and evenly says guys like Travis Hines.

I think those referees were on loan from Kansas.

It was real annoying when KSU had that in football and Huggins/Martin in hoops. It was like their entire athletic program was based on fouling so much the officials get too tired to call it.

Our guys have had good composure in games against ref calls all year. Only one tonight really was when Staten put his head down and plowed uncontrollably into Hogue and got called for the block. He couldn't believe that one and wanted to say something so bad.

I cringe every time I see jansen. Not sure why anyone would expect a different result with history to back it up.
