I don't mind fireworks on the 4th and a day or two before or after, but I really don't want to be hearing them all summer long. I wonder what Urbandale police will do for kicks if they can't enforce their zero tolerance law of fining people $65-625 for setting them off?

They'll just make them illegal at the local level, just like most cities will more then likely end up doing.

This is what happened in KS. In Wichita it was illegal to do anything that goes above 6 feet. However in Andover where we lived it was a free for all and Andover greatly benefits from the tax income.

They are only legal for a couple days on each side of the 4th.

Legalize things that blow kids faces off.

Do not legalize pot that does not blow kids faces off.

I love America but I hate the vocal minority of "Jesus walked with the Dinosaurs anything that blows up is American god guns and cheap gas" Americans.

This has to be the worst anti fireworks argument I've seen yet. Kids should be allowed to smoke weed? Lets give them something that can cause serious development problems in their brains but hey at least they'll still have a face. LOL.

I also laugh at the parents that are anti fireworks but think nothing of handing their kids a scorching hot metal rod to run around the yard with.

Anything less than total freedom is just a cop out, I'm tired of driving to Missouri to enjoy my freedoms of legalized fireworks sales and lower taxes on cigarettes.

I lost interest in fireworks around the time i was 18, i just don't see the appeal. I guess I'm fine with legalizing sale and possession, but i would want to see larger citiea ban shooting them. Nothing more annoying than having a dog that won't go out to the yard after dark for a couple days so some neighbor can light off a few bottle rockets.

Iowa is really conservative with many of its laws, so I'm somewhat surprised that they've let it get this far. I hope they do legalize them. However, it's imperative that cities put time (no use after a certain time of day) and location restrictions on them.

I bet that big *** firework warehouse just past the Iowa/Missouri border on I-35 is nervous as hell about this. I bet 90% of their sales is Iowans making a firework run.

Way up there
You can add Nebraska in there for the bigger stuff brought in from MO.

They can buy fireworks in NE, its just limited to around the 4th and NYE. You can buy nearly anything in NE that you can buy in MO. Being able to go NE cut our firework drive from 40 minutes to 10 :)

Those are not NE stuff big enough to be called fireworks.

Well luckily this isn't all about you and your dog. If the majority of Iowans want legal fireworks and the government agrees then that's the way it should be

Again, I guarantee you most cities will just end up banning fireworks at the local level. This bill is just a waste of time, IMO.
