I think that just like all fans do, you underplay the value of the departing seniors, especially Daniel. He and Hoffman are major players that won't be easily replaced. Brad Smith was decent, but he's nowhere near the threat that Daniel was throwing the ball. If Maclin bails, that offense is not going to be anywhere near as good. And the D isn't that good right now...ISU moved the ball decent on them. I'm not predicting a bowless season, but 7-5 wouldn't surprise me at all.

As for Pinkel, $2.5M is a lot, but I have no doubt that ISU could come up with $2M+ for a coach that has done what Pinkel has. Hell, they were paying Tim Floyd over $1M more than a decade ago.

It'll be interesting to see how they do without Daniel, Maclin, Coffman, and their O-Coordinator Christensen next season.

anyone else see that Pinkle just got a big raise after beating ISU? he now makes $2.5 mil a year, making him tied for the 12th highest paid coach in the country with rich from mich.

i really think they might have overpaid a bit..........Pinkle really hasnt proven anything without having Daniel as his QB and i think there will be a steep decline in performance in 2009, get your money while you can i guess.

Interesting point. HM, what is Pinkel's record vs. UNL w/o Daniel?
