And have a service that you would recommend? Kid is moving for grad school but her new car is an EV and I don't want her trying to drive it that far.

uhsip.com I have gotten quotes but never actually done it because of cost. What about renting a uHaul and trailer?

I’ve used Intercity multiple times to ship from either coast but I use enclosed transport only. Would highly rec them but don’t believe they do open.

Theft has become a major issue in the car transport industry recently. Usually higher value vehicles, but I’ve heard of all kinds. They claim that the issue is better now than it was a few months ago.

I’ve purchased a couple of vehicles from the coast and had them shipped. Process went fine, but don’t expect either pickup or delivery to be exactly when you expect it to be or communication to be great.

Road tripping is always the better route if it’s possible. And we’ve road tripped our EV a few times and it’s not hard to do, just takes a small amount of planning.

Also, unless you’re paying a pretty high price you’ll likely dealing with a broker and not an actual transporter directly.

used uship to get a family member's car from NM to Iowa a few years ago, process was pretty painless.

Get the subtle anxiety of an EV for a long trip but using https://abetterrouteplanner.com/ or similar could ease that and save a good amount of money.
Thanks. My wife and daughter used something like this to plan the trip last night. They're hellbent on doing it. My concern is they're going from Northern Colorado to Scottsdale, and there is a lot of open road on the trip. They found a route that will work, but have to drive a few extra hours to stay on a route with chargers.
sounds like a daddy daughter fun time you will never get to replace
It would be, however, I just started a new job and haven't accrued any PTO yet.

U-Haul was going to be more than double any of the shipping services we looked at.

Thanks to everyone who responded.

Cool utility there, @TitanClone. I plugged in Des Moines to Boise for fun.

Compared to the out-of-the-box Google Maps.

That time is honestly not all that much worse considering the Google Maps 19:10 isn't account for stops to fill the tank. Any realistic trip is going to require some stops along the way for food, bathrooms, to stretch your legs, etc., so I'm not sure in the end there would be too much of a difference with an EV.

If an EV is competitive on time (and I put in a long-range Hyundai Ioniq 6 for the car) across relatively barren states like Nebraska, Wyoming, and Idaho, then it has to work just about anywhere.

Just used Montway. It really wasn’t too bad of an experience and reasonably priced.
