Are there any players on your team this year that you believe would belong on ISU's all-time roster? (Crosspost from reddit)

Contrarez has played how many games? To consider him the best at that position all-time seems to be getting a little ahead of ourselves. IMO, that applies to anyone who hasn't played at least 2 seasons, with this their 3rd.

Breece Hall became the greatest RB in ISU history upon the culmination of his career. Again, IMO.

Yeah,.....is this "roster" the full roster or just starters? That probably changes things a bit as we have probably a dozen receivers on our FULL roster (and same with other positions, etc).

Tampa and Contrarez probably the only two that have a shot
You putting 12 receivers on, be tough with only 85 scholarships.

Man I love Breece and like his pro career, but Troy Davis did really well in college. But all this is pretty subjective and opinion anyway.

2000 yard seasons vs 20 games in a row with a TD. Tough choice

What style offense are we running? What style defense?

The best kicker in ISU history is probably Mevis, who played one year at ISU. Removing someone who is a grad transfer or something like that, is dumb.

Other players for consideration from past years, Blythe, Tom Farniok, Will McDonald, AJ Klein, Jake Knott, Jaquan Bailey, Enyi, Dylan Soehner (as a FB type player), just to name a few off the top of my head.

Tracy Henderson and Luther Blue would be tough to displace from an all-time list.

They are high on the receiving list when the game was not pass happy like it is today. Tracy Henderson left early but if he stayed he would have had most of the records back then

Going to have to beat out Keith Krepfle to be the best at TE. I believe he may be in ISU Hall of Fame.

Tampa is the only one from this years team. Although he’s not a gimme, tough room with Ellis Hobbs and Leonard johnson.

Sama, Rocco, Brahmer, Black, and Cooper could all be in consideration before their careers are over.

I don’t think Freyler is quite there. He is just solid, to me.

I took a look at the kicker history info and wow, it's not good!
So at this position, sure, one great year can do it. There isn't another position that one year is enough to be in the discussion of greatest ever.

Is Freyler about equal to Moser?

There is no one currently that belongs on all time cyclone roster at the moment. If we’re taking the standard 2 corners, im taking Ellis Hobbs and Leonard Johnson 10/10 times over T.J. Tampa and that’s no slight on Tampa. Those two were better corners and both were 4 year starters. Freyler you can possibly make an argument for, but still too early to tell. No one else I can even see having a conversation about at the moment. I would take Lazard, Butler, Moses, Danielson, Blythe, Henderson, and D. Jones without hesitation over Noel at WR and I’m sure a few more.
Tampa came in as a wr. Had he grown up playing corner he may have been a starter from day 1. He will go higher in the draft than Hobbs or Leonard in all liklihood.

TJ Tampa might be a first round draft pick. I am not sure Hobbs and Johnson were better.

A much more interesting discussion would be how many would be on the all-Matt Campbell era team.

Tampa would be a lock and so would Freyler and Hufford. Noel with another good year might overtake Deshaunte Jones as the best slot WR. I would say that Miller, Verdon, Cooper, Brahmer, Orange would have a chance to be on a team like that if they continue their trajectory.

Here’s a depth chart:
Qb: Purdy, Wallace
RB: Hall, Troy Davis, DMont
WR: Lazard, Blythe, Hutchinson, Lane Danielson
TE: Kolar, Bibbs, Soehner
T: Osemele, Bykowski
G: Sims, Reggie Stephens
C: Farniok, Bruns
DE: McDonald, Bailey
DT: Rubin, Uwazurike
LB: Blair, Klein, Knott, Rose
(This was the toughest position group)
CB: Hobbs, Johnson, Tampa, Robertson
S: Barry Hill, Anthony Johnson?

Offensive line and safety don’t have the best history, but there was more to choose from every where else. We have a surprisingly good linebacker tradition, lot of nfl guys and outstanding college players.
