My random observations:
  • This was the 1st year they ever had video replay. Thank goodness.
  • Refs still wore white pants
  • IIRC, our starting QB and RB were both out
  • I don't recall ever seeing that particular head ref before or since. I like to imagine a scenario where somehow he snuck into the ref locker room, put on a uniform, and said "I'm gonna undo about 50 years of bad luck in 1 game today..." :)

I believe that was during the swine flu epidemic and we had numerous players out. That was a long time ago, so I could be mistaken

Maybe it was 1st year of expanded replay? (like you could replay more things). Memory is getting fuzzy.

2006 was the first year it was required. 2004 Big 10 used it, 2005 most other conferences used it except a couple mid-majors.
