Would you say that if Prohm hasn't proven himself by then that we should try to get Fred back?

No, not necessarily. But we shouldn't completely slam the door on the possibility either. Especially if Fred wants to give college coaching another shot. I'd hate to see him go to another college because we didn't seize the moment should that happen.
This is all predicated on Prohm not succeeding at ISU. Right now he's not failing...contrary to some. I hope his new crop of recruits works out great! He seems to be able to recruit. Got to have players...I don't care how good of a coach you are...you have to have players. Only time will tell.

Fred will get another 2-3 years to prove his worth as a coach in the NBA...just about the same amount of time we'll have a good idea on Steve Prohm's worth...
Fred may have had his flaws in the college game as coach...but he gave us an identity...we have or are close to losing our identity now.
If you are hinting at Fred coming back, not happening.
Fred also got good talent in here largely because he was ahead of the curve on transfers, had an absolute ace recruiter in TJ and he had the NBA coaching goal to motivate him. Those three drivers would be gone. I think he will be successful in whatever he does post Bulls, but I highly doubt that will be back to the recruiting grind.

Fred was a front office guy. If he didn't see the roster mess, didn't know the garpax mess, etc... then maybe Fred really CAN'T walk on water and doesn't deserve the accolades some heap upon him here.
I'm a T-Wolves fan - I like to know what his accomplishments were in their front office.

The bad part is if Fred gets fired it really puts Coach Prohm in a bad spot because any time we struggle people will be calling to fire him for Fred. I think Steve has done a great job so far and laid a solid foundation for future success with how he has run his program. We all know next season will likely be a rebuilding year with 7 seniors on this year's team but he has more than proven he can compete in recruiting so far and deserves a chance to coach a team of guys he recruited.

I have no care or heartburn over former ISU coaches although I DO look to what GMac has done as i think he is a GOOD,GOOD man and a really good basketball coach. But I'm all-in with your piece about CSP. He's (to me anyway) building a solid foundation on HS recruiting and defense. That will go far but it will take a few years to see the fruits of the labors.

I'm not sure exactly how you can argue that Fred ever did anything to set us back. If he would have waited we would simply have a longer streak in the top 25...

With what players? The ones that passed on ISU since Fred's dalliances were on full public display and they didn't want to come for an interim coach?

That was what I was hinting at. Fred had a huge role in the T-wolves "glory years" that many people dismiss too easily.

I've always thought it's odd how so many people on here assume Fred would have his choice of NBA head coaching or GM jobs if he were to get fired from the Bulls, but there's also not that many NBA fans here.

If you are a fan, wouldn't you already be aware of his successes/failures. How did they perform after he left to go to the Cyclones for example?
