All right, this is the first time I've been in a serious relationship over the holidays, and I'm pretty sure I've got a good handle on my girlfriend's personality, so I have some ideas on what to get her for Christmas. That being said, how do you ask someone what they want for Christmas without being brutally obvious? That has been the most difficult part of shopping this Christmas season!

dude you just need to ask, straight up. I got my GF a can opener for her birthday because she needed one, and i have not herd the end of it for 3 years.

Ya me and the wife just straight up ask, but this year we got our present in October(We bought a Pug). So its pretty irrelevant for us this year.

Edit. Skipped over the part its starting to get serious. My answer then would have been a Vaccum.

My gf's family believes that you are supposed to buy them gifts based on what you think they will like. Basically a surprise. It has its ups and downs, but we really haven't missed. If I am ever unsure I just tell her I want to go to bestbuy, or borders and walk around in there and see if she drops any hints. This year was easy, she has been craving Civilization 5 for Mac and it just came out a month ago.

Good luck, but I highly recommend using the trick of asking to go out to best buy or something, and then just walk around and look at random stuff and pay attention to whether she sees anything she likes. If she doesn't say anything...I guess ask.

Umm you do realize that since you got her a present already and she already has it, that you are still on the hook to get her an xmas present right?

I think at least something small would be a smart idea. maybe for the puppy.

No2, how long have you guys been together? If you know her well enough don't ask. Otherwise asking for a couple of ideas is good. BUT I could see her getting upset if you ask after Monday.....Christmas is this coming week:wideeyed:

Getting a pug for christmas has to have at least half of your man card revoked.

We've been together just under 8 months. I did get a couple of smaller gifts that I know she'll enjoy, kind of taking the safe route, but I think I could go for something more.

And trust me, I definitely know that Christmas is this week, haha! I've been working on trying to get her to drop hints for a few weeks!

Yes, I know. I will get her something small. If we make bigger purchases before the Holidays we keep Christmas to the stocking stuffer level(under 25 bucks).

Imagine having your wife share a birthday with baby Jesus. Yeah, it's fun trying to find TWO presents. I got off easy this year though. She wanted a Keurig coffee maker.
