Re: Ed Pinckney as a possible assistant?

Call me crazy, and maybe this has already been posted today, haven't looked through all the posts. However, I'm hearing the name Ed Pinckney added to the coaching staff as a possible big man coach. Anyone else?

You are correct

Pinckney would be great...he was a very good college player and led Nova to the 85 National Championship while being on the smaller side for a post. He also has experience coaching under Jay Wright which I'm sure was solid experience for him. I would like this hire.

How many coaches are we going to have? FH, Otz, JG, Pinckney, and a "gray hair"?

A note on Terry Carroll, he's gone back to his JUCO roots and now is head MBB coach at the Comm. College at Burlington, IA (SE IA along the Miss. River). He hasn't been there for very long and still rebuilding their program. I don't realistically see him coming back to ISU, but since when has realism factored into this coaching drama?

Sorry if this was mentioned in the big assistant thread, but what is Terry Carroll up to these days? He has past ties to ISU and a ton of head coaching experience. Does he get a look and/or would he be interested in an assistant position? I'm not saying he's the best candidate out there, but he just crossed my mind for some reason.

Re: Terry Carroll

Last time he left was for a head coaching position, that didn't work out, Isn't he back at a juco in Iowa? Another Ames guy, but also a UNI guy. Maybe JP doesn't want anymore UNI guys around? It will be interesting to see if how it all plays out.

Re: Terry Carroll

For an assistant coaching position, I think we could do worse. The question is would he be interested and is he even on the Mayor's radar.

He's the head coach at Southeastern Community College in Burlington.

Re: Terry Carroll

Terry is a great guy. I used to live not too far from him when he built the IHCC dynasty. He was one of the reason that we got C J Bruton, Chris Alexander, and Jerome Harper (none of which really made it to Iowa State :) )

He has so much pull in finding JUCO talents....

I guess that's a way to put it. He basically went AWOL in the middle of a bad season at Denver, without really communicating at all with the school. He was ultimately fired.

I knew there was some odd circumstances out there but didn't know exactly what happened. That doesn't sound good. He is basically a giant in the juco ranks and LE gave him a lot credit when he was an assistant here. Strange that it would end that way in Denver. I think he had them in the conference championship game one year out there.

I don't think Denver quite knows what happened either. He was 79-99 in six years there.

I would like to refer you to my last post on this thread about Terry Carroll. The name of the school is Southeastern CC. For the geographically challenged, Burlington, Iowa is in SE Iowa along the Mississippi River on US Highway 34. Looks like Terry's working his JUCO magic once more as their MBB team won their regional.

Precisely. I doubt he ever coaches at the DI level again.

Re: Who will be Fred's on bench mentor?

Dear Mr. Fudd,

We regret to inform you that your resume was pitched when we realized that you couldn't abbreviate "Video Tape Rewinding Expert" correctly. Thank you for your interest in the position!

Sincerely,

Tigershoops31

Ok that is hilarious and I just found this. I knew I should have proofread my cover letter!
