So is there any update on assistant coaches?

Coach P is currently making a personal phone call to each and every cyclone fan to get our input before making any more hires. It may be a while.

Listen, don't take this the wrong way but not everything that came out of Jeremy's keyboard was right. All this rumor-mill crap is just that - crap. The bigger things to worry about are who Prohm can ACTUALLY hire aside from Small. Several posters have made the point that it's going to be hard to get a coach at this point in the year and that's why I think the current staff has some leverage - they may only be here a year, but Prohm may be looking at them as a "best option" at this point for several reasons, not the least of which being that nobody GOOD really wants to bail on their current program at this point.

Hoping that Prohm can get the staff he wants, but it wouldn't be the end of the world to retain Mann and TJ for one more year and then search during next offseason.

I agree with everything you said, though I would want to keep anyone retained beyond a year, because being likely to lose an assistant during this recruiting class would not be good.

My concern comes from those in the know during the interview process who had seen the list Prohm submitted of assistants he planned on bringing in and they have stated that it was the worst list of those interviewing. Sounds like Small is going to be the most impressive of those on staff and this is just a buddy who hasn't spend any time above the mid major level.
Not saying this necessarily happened, but planning on bringing in someone and actually bringing them in are two entirely different things. I could plan on bringing in Coach K, Phil Jackson, and Larry Brown as assistants, but it wouldn't be realistic.

Or the recruits these guys signed might bail or reopen their scholarship if someone was to leave

Doesn't matter what the other lists were at this point, but heard Prohm's list was nothing but mid major guys with no power 5 experience. If guys like that or even Small are so great, why have they never advanced to the Power 5 level.

Jon has all the inside leaked info. Sounds like he does not think Otz is staying this year. Pretty late in the year to steal coaches.
I don't understand this logic. I've seen several people make these kind of comments. What difference does it make whether we are trying to hire an assistant coach in March, April, May, or June? Why would it be any harder to hire a coach today than it was in April?

I don't recall Prohm ever mentioning Chew. That was just a name thrown out there based on their history of working at Murray together.

Assuming Mann and TJ want to stay...
