The trouble with the Iowa game is if the Hawk players bring their girlfriends along they will be grazing on the hillside and that will reduce available seats there.

Maybe we can get a trough set up over at Reiman for them, with some wildflowers for them to graze through.

You can't buy a ticket for $90 even though that is supposedly face value. You CAN get a hillside ticket for $60 or a minipack for $99.

It's not a big deal, but weren't the $90 tickets the ones that we gave to the uofi as their official game allotment? The uofi couldn't sell all of them at that price and returned many of them.

The Thursday/Saturday thing is a tough one and makes me glad I'm not the AD. All the arguments here are valid. Thursday night, better for the students that want to go home for the long weekend. And I do remember lots of empty seats in the student section on Saturday Labor Day weekend games. Thursday night, bad for the working class. Especially if it's a long drive to and from. Saturday game, breaks up the last big weekend of the summer, and sometimes it's too ++++ hot.

My solution: Support the coaching staff and team (hint: cheering and money) to the point that we're so good, students, working stiffs and weekenders alike don't mind spending the time to watch a Saturday twilight game, when it's sure to be cooler.

And a lot of people choose those plans over Cyclone football, because Cyclone football is an afterthought instead of a priority to them.

And therein lies the problem. For too many fans, Cyclone Football games are not an event. They are something to do when you don't have something better going on. They need to get to the point where ISU FB takes precidence over work, school, kids' soccer, etc. They need to get to where it is not even a question on whether to take two days of vacation for a Thursday game. Or if it is on Saturday, the ISU students don't even consider going home to see Mommy and Daddy...they have a football game to go to.

I have read through this entire thread and taken time to attempt to see everyone's point of view. That being said, I know that a lot of college students from my area go home on Labor Day for festivals, and float trips. With a Thursday night game they have the whole weekend for such activities.

A Thursday game is also nice for people who have weekend commitments. There are people who work weekends, and can not take off every Saturday, no matter how much they love a team. You also have people with children who are in involved in Saturday sports. I know that youth sports are not high ranking on the priority list to some, but these players we all love to watch so much, I'm sure all participated in youth sports at one point. It is support for the future of sports.

I realize that Football has such a short season. I realize that it is a big deal. I understand the argument from people that you should put it up there at the top of your list, but just because someone can't put it first does not have to take away from the love they have for the team.

And there is only one solution to this problem: WIN!

Although I do realize there are more important things in life than football, I don't understand people who are saying they will not use a Vacation day for a Cyclones game. Give me a break! ISU plays only 12 games per year, 14 max. if we were to play in the Big 12 Championship and a bowl game. Of those 12 games, 1 of them is on a weekday. One game! That's not worth taking a Vacation day for? Especially when the game was scheduled so far in advance. That worth not renewing your season tickets for? Come on, people! Do you think fans at places like Oklahoma, Nebraska, Notre Dame, Penn State, USC, etc. feel that way about their football? That they wouldn't want to "waste" a Vacation day on a football game? I understand the people who have other obligations like children's sports or other activities, family vacations on Labor Day weekend, etc. But I don't get the people who don't think ISU football is worth taking a day off work.

Well, all of the above teams are hosting home-openers on Saturday, Sept. 5. Apparently they do feel they shouldn't have to ask their fans to do that...

For some people who only get 1 or 2 weeks of vacation per year it IS a big deal.

Same issue though, their fans probably don't have a problem using vacation OR cutting into their three day weekend. Our fans have a problem with either one. Winning cures all.

True, but my point is that most schools have played Thursday night games in the past and I don't think the majority of their fans have complained about it. Seeing their teams play is an event, something to make plans for or plan around.

Get back to us soon after you learn that your daughter is dancing on the pole at the Lumber Yard.

I don't know if this has been posted, but I just called the ticket office and the Iowa vs. ISU Reserved tickets are sold out.

In this case, we should have all of our games played on Thursdays. Just as long as Survivor has not started up.

I think it is because all of those other schools hate their fans and they will do whatever they can to disrupt their 3-day weekend. What a bunch of losers.

Let's have all Thursday night games. It will be great for the students. This way they can go home every weekend. And it will be great for season ticket holders as well. This way the weekends will be free. To hell with the season ticket holders from a couple hours away. They will just have to realize that they can use their entire vacation allotment to see the Cyclones. We can concentrate our fan base on the 5,000 or so student season tickets that we sell for around $100 each. And the 5,000 season tickets that we will sell to those who like the Thursday night games. When we get down to the level of the Missouri Valley, we can take things one notch lower so we can renew our rivalry with Drake in the Pioneer League. What a great plan.:jimlad:

I was just stating that this one Thursday night game a year was not such a bad thing. Why are people rushing for the all or nothing mentality? So many people were saying that all the games should be Saturday games and I was just stating that one Thursday night game is not such a bad thing.
