We have a center with a pulse and we win 4 of those games we lost. And are having 5 seniors staring down a 4 seed again like they should be....not this bubble nonsense.

Again....that's on Prohm. Didn't recruit a center...amazing,

Do you think big12 ready centers grow on trees and you just order the one you want? **** our own fans are stupid.

Geez man. Pretty sure we tried. Tried to get Boucher that went to Oregon. Tried to get Livingston that went to Tech. Tried to get Malou/Lard. Nobody knows how many jucos we may have checked out. Recruiting a center & getting one is two different things. Hoiberg could have gotten Dime from Indian Hills & he couldnt even do that. Holden may have appeared to be the best available. Just wish we would have landed Stokes. A guy living down south going to a ranked Florida team, tough to win that battle.

I think you're forgetting that some seem to think that ISU is elite and should just automatically win battles for centers. :)

CSP sucks because he lost to Texas AT texas and all their 4 and 5 star guys. Bill Self lost at HOME to lowly ISU so he sucks. If CSP needs a lesson in how to coach, may as well come from the HOF coach he just beat on their own floor.

Well...you took that and ran with it...right into the ditch.

First, nowhere have I EVER said that Steve Prohm sucks. The post I replied to suggested that the players don't carry out Prohm's gameplan for stretches during the game. That could very well be true, and as suggested above, it could very well be stubborn players who are set in their ways. I think there is validity to that assertion. Unfortunately, IMO, it is a problem that Prohm has to somehow deal with if ISU is going to make the tourney.

Now, for your comparison...Bill Self lost to a team with a winning record that had a historic (for ISU) shooting night by hitting 18 3pt shots, while his team shot 50% from the field.

ISU lost to a team with a losing record that made 3 3pt shots and shot 44% overall, while shooting 41% from the field themselves.

And, KU has a number of highly ranked players too, but ISU did beat them.

Whatever comparison you are trying to make seems inappropriate, since the circumstances surrounding the losses are quite different, and likely resulted from you reading a bunch of junk into my post. Time for you to take a chillaxative...

Was planning to read through this whole thread, but when much of the complaining is around Bowie getting minutes last night (8 and 5 in 19 min) it was pretty clear that this thread was certainly dripping with knowledge from hoops experts . I think this team has talent. But if you have a gaping hole at either the 5 or 1, you are going to struggle. Just be glad its not the 1 ir you end up like Texas.
Prohm has recruited well and our defense is improved. I find the slow starts and coming out flat frustrating, but it seemed to happen under Fred a fair amount too. In some ways I think the same demeanor that Fred and Prohm share that keeps the players from getting rattled when they fall behind probably contributes to the slow starts as well.
I think it will be tough to make a decision on Prohm until two years from now when we will have NWB and Jackson as SRs, Young as a JR, Lard and Wigginton as SO.

Every time one of our fan sees some middling team with some 6'10 stiff that is a serviceable major conference player our fans are going to drop this knowledge that we should be recruiting centers.

Sounds like Ernst mega thread material.

Depth is overrated, there are a number of teams that only play 6 or 7 deep and dont have any issues. We arent West Virginia where we need 12 guys in order to foul all the time. Im so tired of hearing that excuse for why we underachieved last year. The 6 seed in the Big 12 last year was unacceptable for how much talent we had returning.

In fact, I remember a majority of this site saying last year, "just wait until next year when we have a full roster". Well, its next year, we still dont have much depth, and our losses are piling up at an alarming rate.
Just think if Naz and monte were gone. We'd be worse.

Iowa State doesn't pay enough to land a good center. That's what I tell myself to feel better anyways.

Is that why I can go up and down our conference and find every team has a serviceable center? Want me to pick a different power 5 conference? Heck even the bad teams we have played this year like Vanderbilt had a center better than anyone we have on our roster at post.

Just stop. It's absolutely inexcusable that coming soon to his third year we still dont have a center.

Do people just ignore the fact that the NCAA ****** us with Malou and Lard? We lost out in Livingston because he thought they were coming. We had to fight for scraps after we learned they weren't going to make it. Do you think IZzo needs to be fired because they don't have a big man? Heck he has been there for ever but it's totally inexcusable for them not to have a big man this year!!!

No, what's absolutely inexcusable are people trying to fire off Prohm in year two.
