For a freshman starting his first ever Big XII game, I thought he showed a lot of promise. Like others have said, receivers NEED to step up their game. The one that's burned into me is Horne's drop towards the end of the first half that would have set us up in field goal range

Jantz just furthered my belief today that he is not a leader. A true leader would be one on one with Barnett when he was coming off the field and would be cheering on the team. Jantz just stood there and acted like he gave **** less.

After ******** down his leg for the last few weeks there isn't any left to give.

I noticed this as well. I believe he cares but it sends a bad message to the team with an attitude like that(not saying he has an attitude like that for sure..but an important position player needs to be a good example leader as well..).hopefully he accepts the challenge and fights Barnett for the spot but Barnett played pretty well for his first big game in his career

Agree, somewhat. He should have had a head set on, talking with JB after drives, giving advice, something! I am not ripping him by any means, but QB's are held to a higher standard. I remember AA do those things I mentioned when Tiller got PT last year.

AA= Definition of a leader

Then he is not a leader if he has nothing left to give with 6 games left in the season and a chance at a bowl still wide open.

Yeah, I didn't like the few times I saw Jantz on the sidelines and how he looked like he just didn't care. Maybe Rhoads saw that too and that is why he named Barnett starter next week.

funny how much better our defense looks when the offense is not turning the ball over.

You did see that A&M carved us up running the ball (as every other team has). A & M squeezed out 510 yards against the D. This was after a 23 yard 1st quarter, ouch. The blame cannot totally go on the offense for this garbage.

Defenses get gassed and can only do so much when they are on the field as much as our Defense is.

At this point it looks like Barnett should be the one doing the teaching. He seemed to have a very good handle on things today.

Not a big surprise. Barnett didn't look great but Jantz was stinking it up out there. It would have been nice to see if Barnett started if the team would have started better too. It just seems like the rest of the offense stepped it up a notch when Barnett came in.

I am not throw Steele under the bus, he has had moments where he was very good, but since the UConn game he has just not been very effective while still keeping up the turnovers. I think that the injury to Jantz is probably bothering him way more than he or the coaching staff are saying.

what's the problem with you? you're an idiot but it's ok maybe Jantz can still win the heisman:spinny:

That post you quoted just states how people's opinions can change very quickly...this wasn't my "I told you so" posts..though if you're Jantz's dad I understand

 You flat out said "Jantz sucks" in that post.
And good luck finding anything I have said about Jantz/Barnett either way...I was happy to see Barnett get his shot today at that point and thought he played very well and deserves the opportunity to start next week. That doesn't mean I'm going to be a jerk and rip a Cyclone who has played as hard as he can for us. I think it is possible to be pleased with one player without taking glee in his competition's (on a team you supposedly cheer for) misfortune.

I said it in context of people realizing he was overrated..that he wasn't as good as he was made out to be. I ripped people on CF who were dissing Arnaud and saying Jantz won us the first three games...not true at all...you were thinking it was personal between me and him...I have nothing against him personally..sometimes though when a guy isn't pulling his weight you gotta try something new...sorry for calling you an idiot but I don't understand why you put the girlfriend remarks...not cool

I'm not ready to anoint Barnett as the 2nd coming. He looked solid and appears to have good potential, but I've thought that about Jantz, Arnaud and Meyer. Meyer and Arnaud showed so much at an early age, but seemed to plateau.

I don't like the stter being named right now. Start whomever has the best week of practice. If Barnett grabs the reigns and goes, run him. If Jantz gets back to his old form, give him a look.

agree 100%. why say anything to the media at this point. i would think it would further take the wind out of Jantz' sails and I would think you'd want both guys improving.

The "few times" you saw Jantz on the sideline means he doesn't care? Give the kid a break... He's beat-up, battered and giving all he can. And the OTHER than the few times you didn't see him, and all the hours in practice you didn't see him - what was he doing then?

Get off the kid. Support him like he most likely does his teammates...

The last thing Jantz needs - and the coaching staff and the rest of the team for that matter - is more A**fans spouting off their knowledge of football, psychology and leadership from the safe confines of an anonymous chatboard.
