When I look at Jared Barnett, I see a future football coach. Though he may have some physical limitations, his intellect and understanding of the game of football, are not limiting factors with him. My guess is that he may already understand this. I think Jared Barnett has a very bright future (whether it be with football, or elsewhere).

Sam played a great game on Saturday night and he deserves a lot of credit. So does Messingham. he called tge best game he's called all year. He moved the pocket and sprinted him out to keep the kid out of trouble, made all of the checks from the sideline, only gave him half the field to read, used Woody a ton, The kid is a leader, hard worker, great role model, and most importantly a winner. He's not gonna ride off into the sunset just because this season has been full of chaos. IF he's given a fair shake and the same opportunity heading into spring, I fully expect him compete at a very high level.

Barnetts future as the ISU QB is over. Time for you to come to grips with that.

This sir is simply speculation. No facts here. Jared played a great game against okie state and helped the cyclones win the biggest game ever in his first start. Sam played a great game in his first start. Until someone plays like Sam did Saturday consistently it's always going to be a competition. I hope they can pick someone and that player is successful but its irresponsible to be writing JB's eulogy as an ISU qb or as others speculate about a transfer. We NEED someone to step up and be a clear winner of the job as these never ending debates can't be good for the team. I like Jared as much as anyone come spring but would love to be proven wrong with 2 more great performances by Sam to finish this year and have him never look back but that is far from certain.

You are right it is. Barnett beat OSU, Jantz had a miracle against UNI and a great game against Iowa. Neither has done much other than that. Obviously Jantz is done this year so that is a mute point. But Barnett is nothing special and hell Richardson might not be either but JR at least can throw one hell of a ball and he looked more composed in the KU game then I have seen out of the other 2 all year.

As far as JB is concerned, Tkid is a leader, hard worker, great role model, and most importantly a winner. He's not gonna ride off into the sunset just because this season has been full of chaos. Agree. IMO, JB has been given a pretty fair shake. Rhoads is pretty fair IMO. JB would be the starter now if he hadn't had struggles. Same thing with Jantz which led to JB getting the job. Now Richardson has gotten an opportunity. Will Sam keep the job? It is all up to him. Play well and he will keep the job. Struggle and you leave yourself open for the competition to take the job.

JB is a classy guy. The kind of player you want on a team. The kind of player that wants what is best for the team. And will do whatever helps the team to win. Whether that is being the man on the field at QB. Or whether it is manning the headset on the sidelines. Or whether it is just pushing the other guys to step their games to an even higher level. JB is a winner whether he starts at QB or not. He is ALL IN as a Cyclone.

Sam did look the part against KU. Not denying that and hope it continues. I have to believe There is a reason he didn't play before KU though just based on the turmoil at the position and I suspect he has deficiencies too or at least inexperience only time will tell. Cyclone fans need be careful to not get carried away.

CyCrazy, I'm not taking anything away from SR. I thought he played a great game. I thought he looked very poised and in control. The team responded and played very well. But so did SJ against Baylor. The thing about JB is in his 9 starts he played against 7 top 25 teams. It's different out there when the teams have the hogs that come after you every play. I said it when Steele beat Baylor and I will say it now. That was a big win for the program and for SR. He gers a lot of credit and so does Messingham for putting him in good situations. But, I want to see that poise and composure when top 25 talent is coming at you.

This I can agree with, I also did not anoint JR the savior. I just don't think JB is the answer. Hell for all we know Rorach is better than both of them.

I do agree on wanting to see success against someone other than KU. Having said that, Jantz and barnett have played defenses worse than KU and have not done nearly as much. Even in JBs best game, he left some to be desired and was not nearly as efficient as SR. Neither of the other guys make that TD throw to Horne. Jantz doesn't see it and Barnett wouldn't throw it. To me, that play was impressive. This talk of only having Sam read half the field is wrong too. He was reading it all unless he rolled out which was not a significant amount of the time.

Some of guys need to be a little more considerate and less prophetic. I know you can say what you want but Jared Barnett has been a great Cyclone, won the job several times in an open competition and has won some games. Easy for most of us to throw opinions around and change them while others actually are deeply invested in this.

Yep. Hard to say JB or Steele would have had a better game than SR, but that does not mean they would have not done well. Sam was on fire against KU. I hope he plays almost as well against better teams when the other 10 guys on offense are not better than the opposition. Imo, an argument could be made for any of the three QB's to start the next two games.

As for next year, as long as our run game is based on how well we do with the zone read, JB will be in the mix. Unfortunately, as long as our passing game is held back by his accuracy, he will also have competition.
