those last 4 episodes felt like they just crammed in the writing to get to the end.

I don't know as they were crammed as much as they just ran out of ideas. Some of the ways they wrapped up characters seemed haphazard at best.

Also, did we ever find out what happened to their house that caused Sally to go to LA? Seemed like a big part of the story to just leave behind.

Good point- I never even thought of that. Maybe that was their goal, just hope people skip over that fact.

I was pretty disappointed in Season 4 as it unfolded, but I am OK with the last couple of episodes and how the series concluded overall. The cut to black and then follow on Mask Collector was enjoyable.

They just really wasted a couple of episodes with the time jump. I thought for awhile that it was going to be a dream sequence. Making Sally a pathetic alcoholic and making Barry uber-religious did not make much sense to me.

Small complaint, but my wife and I love to point out "glitches" to each other, which is what we call incongruities in shows between scenes. And for me, Barry's facial hair was infuriating. One scene, he has a five day growth, next scene (same day), it is a five o'clock shadow. Seemed like the last two episodes were really sloppy.

I think it makes some sense. Barry was trying to shed the weight of his crimes and commit to his better, humane side. Sally was coping with her past failures / lost dreams as well as her present, having formed a family with a sociopathic killer. Barry in particular was attempting to create a non-evil version of himself through his son - another method to redeem his past failures.
