Has anyone come up with a reasonable explanation why he quit in the middle of the season yet? We can all come up with tons of reasons why he would be better waiting until the end of the season, but there isn't a very strong argument for quitting in the middle. If he gets asked that question, someone please post the answer.
1) Greatly reduced chance of injury.
2) Wants to start at a new school in spring semester. Hard to do the recruiting thing after FB season if you want to start a new school spring semester.
3) Knows his heart and attitude aren't in it anymore (discouraged and/or bitter about real or apparent backup QB status) and doesn't want his attitute to spread to teammates. (1 big drama moment instead of 1/2 season of disgruntled drama.)
4) Doesn't want to spend the rest of the season as backup--and as a result reduce his value to potential transfer schools (he can argue now that he was even with AA but didn't quite get the PT needed to show his full potential).
5) Saw how the Wesley thing turned out and thought this might be better (rip the bandaid off quickly).

decent points. But I am most certain that PB did NOT put much thought into his decision to come up with ANY of those reasons.

Except be the backup (or co-1st-string-but-not-starting) QB for 7 (8? 9?) more football games.

You've made some good points in your posts, but in the game of life this is a huge mistake and I hope he doesn't carry this behavior over when his football career is over. Or I will see him at that 7-11 on Ames Ave. in Omaha.

I honestly wish him the best, but quitting on your teammates and friends midseason is crap.

It may never come out and it there's no reason it should -- it's none of our business. There may be multiple reasons for his leaving and some of them may not have anything to do with football. For all we know he had academic issues or personal (family, girlfriend, etc.) issues that affected this decision.

My only arguement would be is that we're still paying for him to go to school. I think that should be enough reason to have some kind of answer.

Just my opinion though!

I have a little interest and faith in this piece since it's coming out of WOI. Not saying they would protect ISU, but remember John Walters is the Sports Director over there.

If it were WHO, I'd completely agree. They're the trash network of central Iowa and will do anything in an attempt to drive up ratings.

KCCI? Tweener.

My comments were directed toward Bates not WOI. I think Walters did a good job but between PB Sr. and PB Jr. they just keep talking and sounding like a couple of teenage girls. I think their stories lack honesty and character.
