Hilarious how a dozen people attacked me like I murdered their children because I suggested in the NCAA tourney thread that people may want to hold some degree of skepticism about Baylor athletics immediately following their mass rape syndicate era.

I don't think anyone disagreed that their Athletic Department and fans are awful. From what I recall most just supported what Scott Drew has done there. Seems like a genuinely good guy and his players have stayed out of trouble from all I can remember.
CW and Blum talked about it on the last podcast. Drew had the hardest basketball coaching job in America when he took over at Baylor. So to take that all the way to the top of the mountain of NCAA basketball is nothing short of amazing.
He was also regarded as a sleezy recruiter the first half of his tenure at Baylor, but they fail to mention that.
Which, with the benefit of hindsight, we realize pretty much anyone who had success was.
And the only two I remember were Perry Jones and Isiah Austin, both of which were Texas kids.
I'm skeptical of a perfect clean flawless diamond in a sea of turds. I'm not personally attacking Drew or their current players because I have no clue, but count me in the "saw it coming" crowd if/when it comes because it's hard to imagine a squeaky clean program sitting next to the most criminal program in NCAA history.
I keep thinking back to how when I was in college I got so excited about the '98 MLB homerun race and I was a total naive moron. I mean it was crazy obvious what it was yet I was there clueless along for the ride with millions of others.
Drew never came out as pro-rapist the way Mulkey did. If Mulkey's position doesn't make people skeptical of her ethics nothing will.

It was the hardest job because you had players literally murdering each other. Kinda hard to recruit, with the fear of death. Once that was gone, the private school thing helped him then.
Penn State shows it can happen at a public school, but I think the rampant lawlessness and/or NCAA violations are more likely in a private school's athletic department. Just common sense when there is less responsibility to be held accountable by the public and less transparency required to the public.
Odd how things like the "out-of-control governance violations" are never spotted during normal accreditation site visits!
It's the rapey, sleazy, cheating (no shade tents for ISU in 100 plus temps on the field), Mulkey questionable recruiting "success"..thingies that make me dislike their ethics & class. Other than that ..they belong in the MVC.
