Baylors strength is their depth on the front line..something we don't have......ProhmBall continues to be a DUD

It's too early to say, but so far I can't say I'm ready to anoint him a great coach.

Hopefully he will learn a lot in his first year in the B12. This is a big time league from a coaching stand point.

Way to go high school all star!!!! Comparing to your high school days.....nice!!! I can see how you can relate....lmao

Good point, sorry for the comparison. Not to at all equate myself with these guys. Just stating that the mentality on the floor can be different from year to year, no? We complain about the guys not playing very good defense. In some situations that means better fundamentals, but often times it also means being aggressive and sometimes taking chances. And I just don't think these guys feel they should put themselves in situations to foul. If we get a couple guys in foul trouble, we're unable to score and that is how we win games, with our O. Not saying that is how we should win games, but that is how we were built.

And by the way, you're response was a little infantile. I think I suggested I was not an all-star and I was trying to use some life experience that others might relate to to make a point. But, thanks for backing up my points in other posts.

At this point, I just hope future players don't look at this team, and think they can also do the same lazy ****. Unless it is this coaching staff that is making them lazy, in which case, we are screwed.

It's not an issue of playing hard or playing with effort. It's clearly fundamental. Help defense extends too far out, gets drawn too far in, and for too long. Every player leaves there feet with the pump fake. Can't keep post players off the block. Inability to keep the player with the ball from getting the edge.

I agree, there might be some lapses in effort, but no more than any team, especially for as many minutes as these guys play. they are just not fundamentally sound on defense, and that's not something that can be fixed in a week, month, or even a year. On the ball in man most guys do fine. Nader gets a lot of crap, but on the ball against some tough guys he can be very good, and Thomas is good all around on D. But these guys are lost at times off the ball, defending pick and roll, help and rotations. Maybe it's on the players, but it looks like these guys have been extremely under coached defensively during their time at ISU.

There are talented O teams and talented D teams and ones with balance. We were built with O in mind. To ask them to play great D, to have the best form and understanding and capability to hand off assignments to one another smoothly is maybe too big of a thing to ask, especially within one year. They were set up to outscore other teams until Naz went down. Now we're trying whatever we can to win. That rarely is even going to be good D. Acceptable D is all we can ask and to play the kind of O that were are capable of.

I really think that is the story and unfortunately, that won't take the team as far as we hoped this season. But, that is the life of an ISU fan. If you need great D and O with results that live up to your high standards, then I suggest you pick any number of teams that are able to recruit McDs year in and year out. You will find better odds with them. And likely fans with your same needs and temperament. As that is where these kinds of fans tend to end up.

I realize we'll never be a great defensive team with this group...but I still expect a hell of a lot better effort than I saw tonight...hustling back on defense and being remotely locked in mentally would be a start.

No but as a youth coach, I know there are a lot of Moms and Dads out there who think they are gods gift to athletics but when you ask them to help out, they somehow are too busy. Best example. I was at a coaching clinic and one Dad who was the most obnoxious jerk because he knew everything, and no one else know anything, always managed to slide back in the line during skill drills. Never touched the ball. So, what I am saying, I get sick of bluster real quick, and know that watching great athletes is something special. I believe I am a true fan of the game, and understand that a player can work his or her tail off, and still lose. But I can still love watching them. If you think that makes me less competitive, or less of a fan, so be it. I don't need your approval. I just love watching the game. And as I said, I enjoy it more when we win, but I can still enjoy the competition, the skill and the effort even when we lose.

Sweet post and thanks... I'm on the same page.

On another post he was accusing CMC and his staff of abusing players when he was at Toledo.

A special kind of snowflake that one.

I am surprised mods haven't banned that guy yet. I guess there have been too many of these trolls signing up lately for them to keep an eye on.
