People that don't like that dunk are the ones that like to see a nicely executed layup. It's not like he dunked it, stared someone down and walked back on defense or anything. Did his move, went back on defense like nothing happened. Sheesh, the things people will complain about.

I think in the end we are going to discover that we got the better one and done player between him and Vaughn. He's better than Kane IMO by quite a bit. Kane was a stud for us and he's as tough as they come, but his game was pretty limited really. BDJ can do it all.
I disagree.

I was excited to see the highlight reel plays last night. I did feel kind of bad for the Vhawks, but they do have hawks in their name so I can't feel too bad. ;) As long as the glitzy dunks don't get in the way of getting back on defense I think those types of plays really energize a crowd and team. If Fred feels like it should be toned down then it will be toned down, if he's okay with it I am too. My favorite jam of the night was Edozie's tomahawk jam. I know it was just Viterbo, but the energy and flow of the game was very encouraging. They have a lot to work on before they start the conference slate, but last night was a glimpse of something special. Dropping 115 points on anybody, especially with three of your projected big contributors not even playing. Kool-aid refills for me thank you!!

I have a bigger problem with Niang's dunk that got blocked by the rim.

But yes I thought it was poor sportsmanship. We were destroying them. No need for that crap. OK if he does it against KU.

Just to reiterate how I feel about BDJ..... last night about 10 mins into the game or so I posted on here that I had already felt he was the best basketball player on the entire court and that it wasn't even all that close. And I stand by that statement.

Obviously Niang is our leader and he holds this team together, but BDJ is the most talented guy we have. I haven't seen much of Nader or McKay, so that could change, but I doubt it. He is that good folks.

You know this after one game? I wasn't overly impressed with BDJ to be honest but it was just an exhibition game. Also, it's not really a fair comparison because they are different players but I'm not sure how Kane's game was limited? He was a point guard who could drive, dish, shoot the ball, post his man up, play defense, lead the offense, rebound, play solid defense...Am I missing something?

Agree.
Kane's game was pretty limited?....What?
I am hopeful that BDJ can be nearly as good as Kane, but to say any player is better than an AA by quite a bit is just clonedude hyperbole.

I get that some won't like it. I know Hawks will be hatin' on it which is enough to put me into the "I liked it" camp.

He came off as a "softer" but more athletic version of Kane. He's more flashy than DK but until I see him take over big 12 games, I'll hold off on saying he's better. Kane was one of the toughest guys we've had in a long time, we hadn't had a guy who played with a chip on his shoulder. Kane's attitude and leadership separated him from talented guys like Korie Lucious and Will Clyburn who he replaced and is far more important than flashy dunks or stats.

Politics are stupid. Celebrate the dunk and ISU basketball. Let's not turn this thread into a stupid screaming match about who's political beliefs are better.

I booed him every time he touched the ball after that. No one likes that much swagger. Or that much cockieness.

Kane and Babb did just as much showboating with flexing and the feed me hand gesture. We get players under CFH that like to talk and taunt. But do you know what they back it up and I love it.

You're up by 40, playing Viterbo for gods sake. It was a bit tasteless.

I'm not one for being too much of a showboat.

But overall, if it doesn't affect the game - not a huge deal. I've seen guys too often go parading about while the the other team takes off down the court. As long as that didn't happen... eh.

What bugs me most about it is when guys have no business showing off. See Jeremy Lamb in the NCAA opener three years ago. Or that jack arse from the Bears last weekend when down 40. Our fb team seems to do it a little too often as well. Fortunately - we don't often have the same problem with MBB.

BDJ has his own brand of swagger. Hardly excessive and no worse than Kane flexing.

I for one, am glad that guys on the team have a bit attitude and show it from time to time, as long as it doesn't go overboard, is not detrimental to the team, and is backed up by play.
