Outstanding game by BDJ tonight. That was winning basketball all around.

Agreed. It was good to see him make the passes on the break. At least one of them resulted in a wide open 3. I was really impressed by his defense when Naz got his fourth foul (crap call). BDJ was really, good on D. I didn't expect that out of him. I knew he could disrupt passing lanes, but I didn't know was this good at denying the ball to a cutting guard and on the ball D. Nice back to back blocks. Impressive.

Here nor there
I am hopeful he gets even better as he gets back in the flow. If I recall correctly, he did not have your normal team situation to workout/ball with, let alone this ISU team, most of the summer.

Can a mod close this thread? If anyone has any concerns about BDJ after these two games, they should go over to Hawkeye Nation.

He played a lot better tonight. Probably only had about as many mistakes with the ball as anyone else did.

Granted, this is only two early-season games and not high-level Big 12 competition (and averages may drop as depth returns), but here’s the Dejean-Jones stat line so far:

PPG: 17.5
FG%: 48
FT%: 90 (5.5 attempts per game)
RPG: 9.0 (83% defensive rebounds)
APG: 5.5
TPG: 3.0 (a negative, but somehow I anticipated assist/TO might be close to that for BDJ in early stages)
Blocks avg: 1.0
Steals avg: 1.5
Minutes avg: 33.5 (this is likely to drop a few minutes — probably not much)

3-pt FG pct is. only .200, but only 5 attempts in two games -- not like he’s jacking it up willy-nilly.

I'd say he's off to a solid start for the role Fred wants him to fill on this team.

He is reason enough to know that Rice is a crappy coach. Wow, dude is good.

No, that's "too much", we have to stay with the theme of the thread.

WILL THE HATERS STFU NOW?

Haha never. They'll backtrack and say "derp derp I said he MIGHT not be as good" "I said he MAY have problems derpy derpy" bullcrap stuff like that. Haters always gonna hate.

It's just like the GSU stuff people heard BDJ might be this and that coming in without ever actually seeing them for themselves. Well...Hoiberg. Well....Hilton.

Oustide of a couple bad TOs and the missed dunk, I thought BDJ played almost the perfect game last night. Hero ball was gone and played really well within the offense.

I can't be the only one who thinks BDJ will be our best player in a month or two.

I still won't count out Niang but you might be right.

Of all the 2 guards playing last night, NBA scouts had to be the most impressed by him.

Total stud. His ceiling is the highest by far of anyone on the court last night. If he continues to buy into Hoiball we are going to be so, so good. He's much tougher and more physical than I expected.
