Been doing some soul searching.... What can we honestly call a success the rest of this year

This may also sound ultra-negative, with the last 2 games, do people actually see us winning a game this year?

Sure, if only because I can't believe they won't get any better. New system, lots of new players. There's a win or two out there. But right now I'd settle for week to week improvement by the coaches and players.

I don't think anyone who measures this season in wins and losses will be happy. I want to see progress. People getting their assignments. Competitiveness. The establishment of an identity going forward.

1 win will probably qualify as a success at this point.

3-9 would be a good outcome at this point... Sigh.

I just hope to see something gel, especially offensively, whether it be a solid decision at QB finally or Mike Warren getting back on track. Just some sort of identity. The CPR offense never had identity, I really don't want our new coach to fall into the same trap

Honestly, I am fine with an 0-2 start if we are doing the things that appear to show progress. I didn't expect a bowl or even a winning season...but I do expect, after preseason workouts and months together, combined with kids who have played football for probably 6-7 years a piece, coaches who are being paid a **** ton, that we could not decapitate one another in the backfield, line up correctly and not illegally block down field multiple times in a ******* game. Maybe wrap up on the defensive side, cover a guy or two...IDK, play tough?

My point is simple...show progress. That is all I am looking for. Do the basics and at least do them well. We will get beat a lot and we will continue to struggle...but have some ******* pride and do the fundamentals correctly.

GO State!

Offensive flow and identity. Have to quit hanging the D out to dry. We've only put 30 or more pts. on the board one-third of the time over the past five years. In today's football (especially Big XII) you have virtually no chance to win unless you break 30.

Do we "look better" over time.

Do the underclassmen seem to progress.

Does the team stay focused/fighting evening while losing.

Do we seem to bring some game plan and scheme elements to the table that, while our execution and talent leaves them ultimately ineffective, maybe gives some other teams some ideas on how to approach TCU, Baylor, OU, UT, etc.

Beat SJSU. Beat KU.

I can take 2-10 but with a team that seems to want to swing the right direction.

This team is not as horrific on offense as the 2003 team. That team was beyond terrible.

I was about to contend this point because I remember one game where the 2003 team scored 48 points (Ohio), but in their Big 12 games they scored 7, 21, 19, 0, 0, 10, 7, and 7. Baaaaaaarrrff.

Although to be fair, this team still has 10 games to play and so far they've not done any better than that.

Eliminate the penalties that coaching should be addressing. Don't hesitate to play other guys when the starters are making repetitive mistakes. Play Park enough in the next three games to know if Lanning or Park should get the majority of the snaps.

The young guys are taking their lumps now, but they *should* steadily improve. Unless you're one of the fans who have already soured on Campbell, then you know that this is not a one season fix. The program needs a major influx of talent, and they have to then develop that talent. Could be a little while before you see that reflect in the win/loss record. Sucks, but it is what it is.

This doesn't actually describe anyone yet, does it? I refuse to believe that anyone can be so stupid as to believe that CMC can take a team that won three games last year, finished 9th in the Big 12, lost it's entire offensive line, lost a third of its roster after a coaching change, and expected it to be a good season.

Hope the guys get through healthy. That's it for me. I hate to think about anybody sacrificing their body in this season.

This is not true, I have been a fan of this program for as long as I can remember, (first college game was in the late 80's in the Jack)..... Maybe I just want more and am tired of being little brother......

We got our butts kicked, but I don't feel like little brother in this scenario. Iowa came in with a much better team, and we're still working with a new coach taking over a bad team. There is still talent on this team, but our margin for error is nonexistent.

Agree with this. Didn't see CyHawk game, hoping we at least were able to successfully count to 11 in that game, especially on situations where clock isn't running such as kickoffs.
