I'm goin on a tour of Iowa beers just for fun. Started off with Peace Tree Rye Porter and going with Hop Sutra next. Anybody have some good suggestions? Any that I can get growlers or bottles/cans of in the greater Des Moines/Ames area. Already had most of what Confluence has out right now too

For growler fills, it's hard to beat the selection at the bait shop. 515 doesn't do growlers yet.

I finally tried the Peace Tree Blonde Fatale on Saturday. To quote restarant guru and food critic Alton Brown, that **** is delicious.

515 is doing damn good things, and if you're going to be hitting up Iowa beer in the Central Iowa area, you need to include them.

Thanks, on my way there this weekend! Is there anywhere in central Iowa to find Toppling Goliath? I was disappointed that I couldn't find any at Cyclone Liquors

They distribute to Central Iowa, including Cyclone Liquors, the problem is that it sells out the day it's dropped off, usually. If you like them on Facebook, you'll be able to view when they're making beer runs to DSM/Ames.

Made a beer run to Wisconsin today and stopped at TG for the first time on the way home. Also ate at Mabe's and had some pizza. Doesn't get much better.

What time were you at TG? Our paths may have crossed. I got there around 6:00. Prior to that I was nursing some Prairie Bomb at The Cellar.

I tried the Curious Traveler Shandy last night. It was just ok. I'm not a huge shandy fan in general. It kind of feels like an indecisive move to order one. Have a hard lemonade or have a beer, but don't try to have both.

Anyone tried hebrew rye ipa ? It is a great beer and 10 percent. Deschutes fresh squeezed is amazing. Also Bells two hearted as probably my favorite.

Surly has been doing super limited releases to DSM the last couple of months (Blakr & Furious) but yea, I would not count on full distribution for a while.

that's a nice haul! hope they were all enjoyable.

just moved to Kansas City (kansas side) and i really want to go to the KC Bier Company on 75th Street. they specialize in German style brewing. only place worthwhile i have been to so far has been the Bier Station which was like El Bait shop but only 20 some taps, but they go thru them fast.

and for the record, its a high life tonight.
