Yup. 5 "power" conferences and four playoff spots. No way there could ever be any controversy with that setup. :jimlad:

As long as there are more power conferences than spots in the playoff, there will be pressure to expand the playoff. It will be a race to see what happens first: One of the power conferences crumbling (likely the Big 12, but maybe the ACC), or an expansion to 8 teams in the playoff. My money is on the expansion.

This is why conference champions only would solve the issue. Or top 2 from each conference regardless of if the SEC has a proclaimed three best teams... It doesn't work that way in any other football league. Conference champions, and or top two of each... DONE. No computer, No committee, No freaking guessing.

Bcs computer average >>>>>>> ap poll >>>>>> selection comitee

Exactly this. So many complained about the 'convoluted' bcs, but almost all its problems stemmed from the human element, which theyve just made worse with this selection committee.

As to the earlier comment about how a committee works for the NCAA tournament, its a lot different when there are 68 teams being selected as opposed to 4.... and the potential money is a lot more (a team is going to make a lot more off of being in the football playoff than by simply being selected for the basketball tournament field)

In some ways, I wish Pollard would do more to stick up for ISU when we're getting jobbed by the refs. We've got quite a collection of "sorry we screwed up" letters from the Big 12 conference and from the NCAA (e.g., NCAA tournament game vs. Ohio State). We just got another one today. After last year's Texas football game, he basically told ISU fans that it isn't worth ******** about and they need to move on. It just bugs me when I feel like I'm more upset than he is.

Finding the four best teams every year is not worth destroying 100 years of conference/rivalry affiliations.

I agree. And a great bowl system. I don't care who "wins" the national championship. I care about the Cyclones and want them to win the Big 12 sometimes and go to a bowl most of the time.
