Inspired by a Bball thread....Who was the greatest college football player (at their pos.) to ever play for ISU. I go Troy Davis. He was a dominate college back. Your thoughts?

We've had several worthy guys over the last ~100 years. Guys like Crutchfield and Blair are obvious mentions. But, 2000 yards in back to back seasons? Yeah, Troy Davis is easily the best college player we've had at ISU.

Troy Davis should have won the Heisman. So obviously the best FB player ever at ISU. Who in the hell gets 2,000 plus yards on a 2 win team? His speech would have been frightfull though.

If you read this board last year, you would know that Bo Williams is the greatest player to ever play football, let alone at ISU.

I have a tendency to be dyslexic. So while everyone says Troy Davis, I say Lane Danielsen.

troy davis, easily. he is proof that the heisman does NOT go to the best player in the nation. he put up those huge numbers behind an o-line that wasn't very good. imagine what he could have done with an all american or 2 blocking for him!

Actually, our O-line was pretty solid back then, no way he gets 2k yards if they weren't.

ill 2nd that! Patrick agnaugha or however the hell you spell that was a pretty darn good center not to mention the rest of the line were all pretty decent. But i will point out troy did get hit quite a bit behind the line of scrimmage or at the los and got a lot of YAC:yes:

I was too young probably to be able to tell a good line from a bad one. I would say the line had to be pretty darn good to go for 2000. I would also say, though, that they weren't all that extraordinary. Most of the time great college lineman project well to the NFL. He sure didn't have many of those.

dave macartney--huge defensive tackle when he played for the cyclones.would have been a great qb if he could have held onto the ball.fumbled 36 times and had an outstanding season of rushing for a total of 2 yards on 669 carries.
