New dream scenario: BigXII sues ESPN and wins. The conference gets a share of all future ESPN college sports revenue. BigXII renamed to Big8. Big8 has the largest per-team conference payout in all collage sports. ISU gives Coach Campbell a lifetime contract.

Probably would just let Texas into the conference again like the last time it was the Big 8.

Well too early to know. But if they have evidence if ESPN and another conference discussing poaching teams it can definitely lead to a lawsuit for tortious interference.
Well now we know what was really discussed in the initial big 12 emergency meeting...
The language seems fairly straightforward. All discussion of this between relevant parties prior to 2025 is in violation of the conference agreement(s), as long as proof of this is not a bluff. Tie them up in the courts. This MIGHT give the big 12 enough leverage to carry on as is on life support longer than the 1-2 year max CW estimated. You'd think the little 8 might have postioned themselves for a generational payday to make it end sooner. the only downside is Texas had to see this coming, but I wonder if ESPN did? (this is Di$ney ans Texa$ after all)

It will be interesting to see how espn handles this. Media likes to criticize others but hates when they are criticized. I would t be surprised if they try to discredit Bowlsby and try to make him look like a nut.

It's hard to go after the guys who by ink by the barrell. ESPN will absolutely control the narrative, unfortunately. Need to get some people at CBS and Fox on the case.

I've believed all along that UT/OU plan on playing in the SEC next year. ESPN was just helping them destabilize the B12 so that no buyouts had to be paid. ESPN has been behind conference realignment from the start. But they just got their tit in a wringer here.

Even if Texas saw it coming, their arrogance would have overwhelmed any concern.

but any waiting or playing multiple season in that league will kill the recruiting. We have to find a home, know where we are going so we can tell recruits what conference we will be playing in. This stuff killed recruiting under Paul Rhoads. he had to recruit two classes under realignment duress. I don't want CMC to go through the same things.

i don’t think it would be good to string this along. But it probably helps us get the full buyout amount.

Best scenario is quick settlement with a great landing. Alternately, a year or two in Big XII limbo with everybody including recruits knowing where we are heading even if it's not signed, sealed and delivered due to legalities and collecting big $$$ from EsTuPnOu

Just fyi, this letter is a standard 'response' that may or may not accomplish a damn thing. It sounds good to us because it says what we want to, which it, "you screwed us to poop on you!" Unfortunately, a court may also say, "Yes, sort of, but get over it and get to moving along, you've got a year." Anyway, obviously totally guessing here but trying to temper the optimism without killing it. We need a little!
