I've never coached but IMO our offense does not really give Conditt (or Jones) much of a scoring opportunity. It worked with Niang and others that can shoot from outside or dribble drive. Currently defenders know all they have to do is guard the pass and hand off.

The “Big Man” phenomenon strikes again! Can Anyone tell me how we’ve started winning again? Anyone able to tell me who the 2nd leading rebounder in the conference is?

JFC it’s not 1991. This **** is bordering on mental illness territory.

We'll need to get some help across the board in the transfer portal. An impact big man will sure help but also going to have some big roles to fill with Brockington, Kunc, Kalscheur, and Conditt all seniors and I wouldn't count on any coming back especially Brockington. Then there is the elephant in the room about what is going to happen with Jackson and Enaruna who have fallen out of the rotation and could be transfer portal candidates.

Much like last year I think this roster will look a lot different than the previous year as Hunter, Grill, Jones, King, and probably Walker now are the only ones you can count on being back along with the incoming recruiting class. The 2023 class going to be an important one as we need to get back to what made us successful early on in the Hoiberg era which is signing about 2 or 3 solid HS kids every year that will be good 3 or 4 year players then fill in the rest of the gaps with the transfer portal. Can't afford to miss on many on either level right now until we start to build up some depth in the classes where we aren't turning over half the roster every season,

I think condit gets an unfair deal on here but whatever.

What this team needs more than anything is a consistent shooter.

I love big George as a person. He embraces and embodies the Iowa State Way! LOVE his dad too.

But, we only need one of him and Rob Jones. This team needs shooters and rebounders of which none of our centers are. If Georges turned into a 6+ boards per game player. I'd get on board. But when your starting center averages the same rebounds as your 6'0" PG... We have to get better

Tre King will stretch defenses better and has looks the same weight as Big George. I would love to see Tre and Jaz on the court as our forwards. That puts 5 shooters on the floor and 2 forwards who can defend without being total liabilities

Would LOVE to grab another Tre King/Jaz type player to provide depth at our 5 spot as well

Been saying it but go get a Niang/Prattish type even if it's not the same brand/level of talent and the concern for a 5 will fade especially as Hunter continues to grow.

That said a C. Lard type with their **** together would be awfully fun too.

Idc about some traditional big man. I want 6'6" plus with a long wingspan and good athleticism.

With the transfer market the way it is today, I would be stunned if we don't get a big man transfer. Having a future NBA pg on our roster in Hunter would be very enticing to any big man who loves to run and dunk.
That slip feed on Saturday was sick good. So, yes, a big could only love our pg.

I want Race Thompson to enter the portal and for this to happen.

Race is an OK player, but IMO he is more of a finesse big. He would be more of a replacement for Kunc or Enaruna. If we are looking for a Conditt replacement, a guy who can be a rim protector would be nice. Shot blocker, rebounder and brings some nastiness.

I think this is where Tre King steps in. He could be a great high post guy while playing the 4. Then a guy like Kunc could be a spot up guy on the wing.

Fair points. I could see Race get a double double average next year.

I think that we need a big with a post up game that is able to dribble. If we can get someone like OU got in Groves, that would be a nice addition. It also wouldn't hurt to find a tall wing that can shoot. Keep an eye on the mid majors during the tournament. Usually guys that ball out there end up transferring up.

Some of those boards that gaurds grab are because guys like jones and conditt box their men out and the offending gaurds get back for defense rather than going for an offensive board. Not all, but some. Just because he doesnt average 10 boards doesnt mean he isnt valuable on the glass

I know we have Robert Jones coming back next year and Tre King coming in is 6'8" but we loose most of our size next year. Does anyone know what the likelyhood that Kuntz and Conditt come back? I don't think we have much for open scholarships for bigs. Do we have any other recruits on the radar to play the 5?
Enaruna is only a junior hopefully he’ll be back!
