Big Plays (20+ Yards) From Scrimmage in 2007

With a potential shoot-out on the horizon this Saturday vs. Texas Tech, I decided to do a little research on "Big Plays" (20+ Yards) from scrimmage (not counting INT/Fumble returns, or Kickoff/Punt returns) in ISU games so far this season.

So far this season, ISU has executed 17 such plays on Offense, and the Defense has surrendered 10.

It would be interesting to see these numbers for Tech. I'd venture to guess it would take you a lot longer to get those numbers.

What were the numbers like from last year. If you know. IMO, our defense isn't really that bad this year. Sans completely shutting people down we're competent. I've always been frustrated by a fan base that piles on the defense. In modern football era with spread offenses it's tough to keep people at bay.

Interesting post, the thing that should raise our optimism and that McFarland pointed out in an early post game press conference was that ISU still had not implemented the full playbook for a game. Just too much to understand, i'm sure early on we were a bit vanilla and focused on basics, can we block, run and pass....well we could, we simply couldnt hold onto the ball.

This is proof that our offense is slowly opening up and the more it opens up we will be open to two different outcomes - Turnovers/sacks or big plays!!!!

I'm all for it, this team is good enough to compete and win several games down the stretch......and if we fail because were opening things up, you will not see me on here being critical on the play calling. I can live with that!!!!

I guess the good thing is...they've given up more big plays than we have given up. However, 7 of them came in one game, against Oklahoma State. 4 of our 10 were against Nebraska.
