Dude is going to love all the developmental time for young guys during bowl practices. He's also going to love the chance to break into the 2 deeps during spring practices.

Everyone's first semester in college is tumultuous. I'm sure it is even more so for student athletes.

I won't believe anything until its official.

Plus a redshirt year not only means usually more playing time during your career, but could mean the difference between getting drafted or not because you've had that great 5th year because of added maturity, strength, and experience.

Exactly. Charles is that much more ready to play and will have 4 more years to prove it on the field.

Do I understand it correctly that a redshirt is based on the calendar year and if we play a January bowl, players that have redshirted can play without consequences?

No. They cannot play this season.

I am reasonably sure that it is based on the season of the sport involved. So any bowl game after this 2012 season would be included in a FB player's redshirt year.

I'd get tired of working hard in practice while red-shirting, the red-shirts play scout team, take a beating likely, with no chance to see the field. I think the red-shirt year would be tough, His tweets may have reflected that he couldnt wait until this year was over so he could smoke some fools on JTS for real on a Saturday afternoon.

I'm sure we'll lose a few, we do every year and with 85 on scholarship it is pretty much expected. Wouldn't be surprised to see a couple upper classmen who are buried on the depth chart leave. The way we are recruiting makes it look like a couple spots at least will open up.

I think we should look at 5th years not coming back and those situations. I know woody has to decide between playing another year and taking grad classes or moving onto med school.
