It's hilarious/ridiculous to me that Warren is getting so much flack for this. It's so much messenger blaming. He didn't make this decision. He operates at the behest of the university leaders. The decision was made by them.

Warren can be blamed for phrasing, certainly but he's limited in that as well. Like the vote, for example. Fans want the results made public. That's not Warren's call. Those university presidents have zero desire to have their votes known.

I guess it's Warren's job to be the figurehead and take the heat, but it just makes me laugh that fans can't/won't see that and insist that this is all his fault.

You're right in that its the president's/chancellors making the call, but its his job to get everybody on the same page. No way this goes down like this under Jim Delany. But you can certainly imagine Dan Beebe having similar results, can't you?

Not if it hits the Iowa taxpayer. Not playing is fine but I don’t like the loss
Taxpayers don't fund their athletic department. The Big 10 TV contract, plus ticket sales from all of the dumb rubes that support the hoks.

Yeah, maybe don’t revel in the schadenfreude quite so much, considering it might just be a matter of time before the Big 12 follows suit. COVID is doing what was completely predictable on college campuses everywhere.
I'll revel to my heart's content. Schadenfreude is a wonderful thing, especially when it is the hoks getting screwed.

That was my exact explanation to a Hawk homer here at work, except he was trying to convince me that the B1G was going to convince all conferences to play starting January 1. He didn't get it through his head that there isn't enough domed stadiums to feasibly start on Jan 1.

The real question here is... would this officially count towards their January 1st bowl game tally ?

If they don't play this year, then it's a total loss of a year for him. Will only lower his draft stock for next year most likely.

He should have went to Europe and made millions, but if he truly believes he can play in the NBA, then I guess he should chase his dream. He could have done that after playing in Europe though too.
Probably that he will wait and return for 2021-22 season because playing at CHA for Iowa is the penultimate dream for every basketball player. :jimlad:
