You still have to beat the teams you play no matter how bad they are. ISU has problems beating MAC teams, FCS teams, and Big 12 teams they should be able to compete with. What makes you think going to the Big 10 will solve all that.

^^This^^

By the way, LOVE your sig.

Speaking of conferences, we better get this next coaching search right or we might be headed to a different conference in the next shakeup. It won't be the big ten though.

If we can catch NDSU and UNI on the rebuild it might be a competitive league conference

Big 10 may or may not be "boring" but you can't argue with last year's conference results.

Football 2014: Big 10 goes 6-5 in bowl games, and conference champ wins the national championship. Big 12 goes 2-5 in bowl games, and conference champ wins the Peach Bowl. Only one head-to-head matchup (Mich St vs Baylor) and the Big 10 wins that.

Basketball 2015: Big 10 places 7 teams in the NCAA tournament; 4 make the field of 32, 2 make the field of 16, 2 make the field of 8, 2 make the Final Four and 1 made the championship game. Big 12 places 6 teams in the NCAA tournament; 3 make the field of 32, 2 make the field of 16, none advance past that. Only one head-to-head matchup (Mich St vs OK) and the Big 10 wins that.

Oh, so 11 of 14 teams from the Big 10 went bowling last year? Are you counting OSU's both games? If that is the case, that is not a fair comparison because they got an extra game. How do we know TCU wouldn't have done the same had they had the chance? They were playing just about as well as anyone last year.

Iowa State always plays a national top 20 strength schedule, actually a lot of years it is top 10. In order to win against that type of schedule, then ISU needs to be a top 20 team. Iowa's strength of schedule barely breaks the top 40 in any year. It allows their program to accumulate wins, gain momentum, and helps recruiting. If ISU played a schedule that ranked 40 or lower, there is not doubt the program can gain a little momentum and have better success. In college football schedule absolutely matters. Plus, playing in the Big 10 would allow ISU to dodge some of the tougher teams some years. There is good teams in the Big 10, but it is a 14 team league with only 8 conference games. So while there is good teams at the top, there is also more mediocre to bad teams. Very hard to compare the Big 12 to the Big 10, the variables in the scheduling are not the same. Iowa would struggle in the Big 12, and I'm not talking about bowl games where you get a month to prepare, I'm talking about trying to prepare and win against high octane offensive schemes about every week. Iowa doesn't have the speed or athletes to hang with those type of teams. Tech wasn't even at full strength, and their athletes were still way better than Iowa.

There is so much to say about the delusion in this post that I am just going to pass and shake my head.

Sounds about par for the course for you. If you can't refute something, just shake your head instead.

Seriously though, Iowa fans used to poke fun at ISU playing in the Big 12 North which was weak. Well, now we play everyone in our league every year and Iowa is in a VERY weak division of the Big 10.

The Big 10 West is extremely weak. Nebraska, Wisky, and Iowa are the only decent teams in it, and Nebby and Wisky are both down this year. Add to that the fact Iowa doesn't have to even play Ohio State, Michigan State, Michigan, or Penn State.... and you can see why Iowa has one of the easiest schedules in the nation according to most sources.

I wouldn't apologize for the really easy schedule if I were an Iowa fan.... I'd just run with it and enjoy it. You should do the same. Don't even try to come over here and suggest Iowa doesn't have an easy schedule when everyone in the nation knows they do. In fact, there has been talk out there that if Iowa were undefeated this year they might not make the 4 team playoff due to their horrible schedule. That's how bad it is.

ISU would finish either last or maybe edge out Purdue for second to last in the B1G West.

Realistically, we need to join the MAC or mountain West. I will cease being an Iowa state fan if we join the Big 10.

Iowa is going to go undefeated in the Big 10 West, and ISU was tied with them and had the ball with about 3 minutes left to go in the game. IMO, we could beat anyone in the Big 10 West with how we played against Iowa.

Plus Iowa was trying way harder than us in that game too

Illinois and Minnesota are better than Nebraska as of late. Don't forget Northwestern either.

Your first sentence is likely true, but not your second one. Northwestern just got throttled by Michigan 31-0. The top teams in the Big 10 West aren't even comparable to the top teams in the East. Iowa would finish about 5th in the East at best.

I'd say you've lost your marbles but I don't think you started with all of them to begin with.

You'd be the worst or second to worst team in the B1G West. And that's bad. Wisco, Nebby, Minney, Northwestern, Illinois, would roll you. Sorry. Illinois is the worst of all those teams and they played us much tougher than you did.

and NW beat a good Stanford team. NW just faced maybe the hottest team in CFB.
