The best strategy for Nebraska basketball might be to paint the court blue and move their team to Omaha, some fans might stumble into the Husker game by accident.

U-R-soooo rite.

A new building for dead red basketball will have the same 4400 fans attending just like their grate devaney ctr.

NO self respecting basketball coach wants to work at a Football Factory and have NO support either with money or attendance from the fanbase.

Nebraska has never won in basketball and never will, & U-can go to the bank with that one!!

Right now? Yeah, KU, ISU, KSU. There was a time GIA (Ok St) was very, very good. UT when they have been winning for awhile and the team has a lot of hype could make the top 4. I know nothing of WVU.

GIA was one of the toughest venues in the country before they renovated it. Very comparable to a Duke-like atmosphere. KSU was really poor until Huggy reinvigorated their fan base.

I agree with most of the lists here..

KU
ISU
KSU
OSU

Then the rest in no particular order.

Texas can be good if their fair weather fans feel like showing up.

I'd put TTU ahead of Baylor. Baylor's arena looks pretty old and dumpy, and they never draw good crowds, even when they're awesome. TTU's arena is a lot newer/nicer, and when they were good under Bobby Knight that place could get pretty rowdy.

I would be interested to see fans of other Big 12 schools address this topic. I bet that KU would be a consensus #1, but I wonder if Hilton would be consistently in the #2 slot.

I would be interested in this as well.

I think we would actually get the best answers from KU and KSU since those schools actually seem to consistently care about basketball. UT and OU fans would overvalue their arena and fanbase and probably don't follow basketball well enough to even know what Hilton Coliseum is.

No love for the Noble Center? It always looks like the seating is pretty good there, with a lot of spots close to the court. It kindof reminds me of Carver hokeye Mausoleum, though...

Basing only on the physical arena itself, TT is at worst #3 imo. It has great aesthetics, capacity, modern amenities, and seating arrangement. One thing, perhaps the only thing, unsatisfying about Hilton is that the court-seating interface has an element of multi-purpose facility to it.

As much as I think people overstate TT, since the end of the SWC they have been investing a lot of money into the athletic department and university (they are very serious about achieving AAU status). I can only hope the 11th hour save of the Big 12 can motivate us to do the same.

I went to the TCU game this weekend, and it was horrible. I grew up in Urbandale, and we easily had a better atmosphere than TCU. There were maybe 1000 people there, half of which were ISU fans. Their "student section" had about 20 students. It was easily the most boring college game/atmosphere I have ever been too. I am just glad we won that one.

We paid $18 for a ticket, they should have been giving them away though.

Very cool photo. However, there seems to be lots more trees in this picture than now. Did something happen to them? Or is this an enhanced photo?

ISU

OSU (When they are good, maybe less so with the new arena)

All of the walkway lights are on as well, and I know for a fact that that hasn't happened in the last 25 years.
Calling the theshadow....

Yeah, a lot more trees, so I am guessing prior to one of the floods. Also, likely not from basketball season as well.

You all need to take off your cardinal colored glasses. yes, ISU has a great atmosphere but ask the general public and anything with the word "Iowa" in it will not seem as fun.

These guys have Baylor's chrome-dome better than us.
Should tell you it has nothing to do with Cardinal and Gold glasses and everything to do with their stupidity. I cannot wait until some of our fanbase loses the mind-set that you can think highly of ISU only if you are "wearing Cardinal and Gold glasses".

Sorry if I missed your satire .

He gave the atmosphere 5 stars at Baylor and 4 stars at Hilton. Because he went to the KU-Baylor game!
Can you imagine if they went to ISU-KU?

I guarantee that the atmosphere for identical games is much better at Hilton, especially KU.

Not to mention all the criteria listed that are irrelevant. It is not basketball related. Baylor fans and ISU fans got the same 5 star rating! LOL. If they go to any other game than KU it is a whole different ballgame.
