Way up there
I don't mind this if Jameel got dpoy BUT Hallice Cooke and Deonte Burton need to get this award back where it belongs next season.

So McKay is the only unanimous selection, but not newcomer of the year. makes sense.

So let me get this straight...the Big12 NOTY award goes to the guy they let play right away instead of the guy they said had to sit out nine games even though their situations were the exact same? I'm not saying there's a conspiracy to pry the award out of Fred's death grip, but clearly there's a conspiracy to pry the award out of Fred's death grip.

The only difference being Thomas only had one year of eligibility, and Jameel had two, making it easier for them to deny the extra semester.

Ya. McKay's numbers would be disgusting if he got the chance to play the the Georgia States and Viterbos of the world. If he gets even better in the summer, look out.

I could live with not one player on the team getting any kind of award for a deep run in the dance...

But yes, Jameel got robbed for Newcomer of the Year. I would venture to say every single big 12 coach would rather have Jameel than Tashawn Thomas.

I know it's been said in the other thread about the awards, but I'm sure they only allow one award per person, and like to distribute the awards throughout the teams (just like corporate recognition BS). I'm sure JM is happier getting Defensive Player of the Year as he is being evaluated against everyone in the league rather than just those who were new this year. I'm sure he deserved both, could only receive one, and got the higher honor.

The fans would rather have the newcomer of the year to promote Hoiball.

How does one become a unanimous selection for the newcomer team...but isn't the conference's newcomer of the year? Huh???

Only ISU got 3 players on the all big 12 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams. That's pretty cool.

Huggins with COY. Not gonna argue with that too much

That was a surprise to me as at least the last couple of ISU games the sports announcers were stating their views and all agreed their vote for Big 12 coach of the year would be the Kansas or Baylor coach. In the post game after our last game with W. Virginia Huggins is always very complimentary of the Cyclones but did say he didn't want to use it as an excuse but he had a very young team. If none of them are earlyouts the Big 12 had better look out.

I certainly didn't think Bill Self should get it this year even if they did come in first place as one comment he made was he had the worst offensive team he has had in his 12 years at Kansas. Another early season prediction one expert has is he thought the Big 12 champion might have as many as 4 losses, just missed it by one but I'll bet many were surprised. If not for that careless inbounds play in the K State game among a few others ISU had the best shot of coming in first in many years.
