Per Chip Brown's radio show: Official announcement coming within a matter of minutes!! Time to celebrate Cyclones, we just dodged a MAJOR bullet!

I'll celebrate a few years from now if the conference has stabilized and the threat of implosion is gone. ISU is hardly out of the woods right now and a conference implosion a few years from now could leave the school in an even worse position than we are right now with no other viable options other than CUSA or MAC. As far as dodging a major bullet, I fully agree, and I'm at least grateful for that much - but that's as far as I'm about to go right now.

I don't think there is such a thing as stability anymore. Do you think joining the Big East would have been stable? Or the MWC? NOT. Nothing is stable anymore.

You just do what you can to survive... and right now, this is the best case we can possibly get. Our revenue nearly doubles. You can't argue with that. Obviously, you never know how long it will last, but you don't know that anywhere you end up in these times.

I think the real threat is not from within our conference but from without. If there is a move toward superconferences, I think that is what will end the Big XII.

Like it or not, right now we have no bargaining power, so if the Big XII stays together it gives us the chance to improve our position, and hopefully improve our chances of being included if/when the superconferences are formed.

I think this is the best realistic scenario for us right now.

Somewhere in the U.S.
I hope it survives, and if it does, now they need to take steps to make it stronger......a good tv package.....similar to what the Big 10 does...why not a Big 12 network? Also, add a couple more strong teams that will bring in additional audience.......Utah, Houston, TCU maybe? Whatever, make the conference stronger so the Pac 10 or Big 10 or SEC will not come calling again.

Agreed, a major bullet dodged. However, it has made me very leary of Texas. They have shown that they will be very hard to trust.
