Differences in revenue for schools is still based on TV appearances. i.e. Texas & OU get more of the pie b/c they are on TV more. However if ISU has a very strong year they will be on TV more and make more $.

With NU and CU gone, shouldn't the rest of us end up on TV more? Thus helping to level out the revenue?

Yep, I think we will most likely end up on TV more. Especially if we play every team, every year. the UT/OU games will probably be on TV more often than not. Now we just need to win some of those games!

So, in the end the real loser out of all this is Colorado. They will have to travel more and will have to pay the conference for leaving. Dan Hawkins can finally close on that home cause he is going no where for a while!

It is unfortunate that we had to lose Nebraska and Colorado to get this done. Two long time opponents of us are gone. If Beebe would have been more pro-active and done this a couple years ago, it would have been better. We are NOT better w/out Nebraska and CU. but over all, if it is true and the big12 stays, I am happy.

We are better without the Fuskers ,we can go get a good basketball school, Nebr. basketball is in the toliet

I'll take $14 million, but I'm really hoping all of our games our on TV.

Since the Big 12 used to show 5 every weekend, we should be set. Plus, once the Longhorn Network comes into play, that's 4 games for the rest of the Networks.

I wonder if the Longhorn Network will be the exclusive airer of all Texas regular season games?

Something tells me that if the game is to be aired on ABC/ESPN the answer is no.

I think the 10 remaining teams need to stick together and look to see who we can add to make this a 16 team conference in the future. We need to be pro-active this next time and look at adding teams instead of sitting by and watching lesser conferences take ours.

I think both the Big 10 and Pac 10 are not done adding teams... by a long shot.

I really do think there is something to the conspiracy theory that the Big 10 and Pac 10 were working together in this mess. They have always had the Rose Bowl alliance in the past and I seriously believe they both wanted to see the Big 12 die. It is one less threat for them.

That is why I'm really happy that we can hopefully work this out. We cannot be pushed around by the Big 10 and Pac 10.

As someone on ESPN said this morning... the Big 12 has been far superior to both the Big 10 and Pac 10 in football lately, but not in their business model.

The remaining 10 teams need to stick it out and make this conference thrive. Don't give in to the others.

Add Memphis please. That would add at least 5-6 million a year per team.

Umm, the FedEx deal for Memphis to a BCS conference was reported at $10M per year. Since there are now 10 teams in the Big 12, split ten ways, $10M/10 Teams = $1M per team per year. How the heck are you getting 5-6? Memphis isn't going to drive a ton more money on our TV contract.

Which, IMO, is how it should be to an extent.

Negative. The Texas Network can ONLY air games not picked up by the major network. The money influx from the Texas Network will come from airing bball, baseball, vball, etc.

You have to add Memphis to get the money, and I don't think they are going to set to the side and just let everyone have the money. Additionally, you need to add another team to have an even number of teams. Basically, this guy is trying to become the title sponsor of a BCS conference.

The money would be able to be used as the conference sees fit. the 10 current teams could divide it among themselves without giving it to memphis.

Also, why do we need even numbers necessarily? We aren't having a championship game anymore. The Big 10 has worked with 11 for years.

Not saying I disagree that 12 would be better, but it isn't a given.

Add Memphis and feel free to call it the FedEx conference. I'm pretty sure I remember reading they just pulled their Orange bowl sponsorship so we can just take the name.
