Pretty skeptical of the parachute reports from witnesses. I don't think they carry parachutes since they fly so low.

Edit: Also seems was one of AirSign's smaller "thermo" blimps, not the bigger helium one. Also confirmed they DO NOT carry parachutes. Smaller version just has a pilot...sort of the light plane version of the bigger blimps. This is really just a fancy motorized balloon.

There are several eyewitness reports to people parachuting out...

From the sounds of it the blimp was not actually affiliated with the US Open and the pilot is getting treated for injuries.
