So he's at fault for assuming that his "loving adoptive parents" were not screwing him to the wall?
If someone is or was managing his finances for him, you'd think they would have had all sorts of questions when the movie was released (particularly after it became a hit). Beyond the people who did this, that would be the next person I'd fault.

I don’t remember exactly. It just made me uncomfortable and it definitely seemed like they were taking advantage of him a bit. It was more white savior than the movie portrayed. And they definitely had ulterior motives to get him to go to Mississippi.

Like I said, I don’t doubt that they mostly had the right intentions. But it doesn’t shock me that Michael Oher has complicated feelings. And I’d be pissed if he didn’t make money off of that movie.
The book is more white savior than the movie? Really?

Will be interested to hear the Touhy's response, but based on the factual info about the arrangement released by Oher, this is about as greedy and slimy as it gets.

The petition further alleges that the Tuohys used their power as conservators to strike a deal that paid them and their two birth children millions of dollars in royalties from an Oscar-winning film that earned more than $300 million, while Oher got nothing for a story "that would not have existed without him."

While the deal allowed the Tuohys to profit from the film, the petition alleges, a separate 2007 contract purportedly signed by Oher appears to "give away" to 20th Century Fox Studios the life rights to his story "without any payment whatsoever." The filing says Oher has no recollection of signing that contract, and even if he did, no one explained its implications to him.

The deal lists all four Tuohy family members as having the same representative at Creative Artists Agency, the petition says. But Oher's agent, who would receive movie contract and payment notices, is listed as Debra Branan, a close family friend of the Tuohys and the same lawyer who filed the 2004 conservatorship petition, the petition alleges. Branan did not return a call to her law office on Monday.

Let's take a moment to appreciate how horribly the movie aged:

- Hugh Freeze is his high school coach
- Oher didn't like how stupid/naive the movie made him look
- Now the whole premise of the movie (family adopting him) is (allegedly) a lie and the Tuohys pulled a Britney on him

The documentary that will ultimately come will be a good watch

I hope Oher takes every penny from them and makes them homeless. Now that would make an incredible story.

I read the book before the movie came out and it left enough of an impression that I didn’t want to see the movie. And that’s the exact kind movie I tend to like.

Yeah this is what I was going to say. I swore something came out a couple yrs ago about the white savior aspects of it.

I'm so sorry I ever watched that movie. It was just so over the top with making whatever her name is as some savior. And they way the portrayed Oher as such a slow almost dumb kid was a joke. Kid was always bright and an outstanding athlete way before the Touhys took advantage of the situation.
