This is a great hire. It was going to take someone pretty special to fill the role that Fred needed with this assistant. I am very impressed with Bobby after listening to his interview and how he is embrasing his role even though he is more qualified to be the head coach. Of course, maybe he wants some cover if this whole thing doesn't work out! :)

For the poster who talked about Grayer and how some don't seem to think he is qualified to be an assistant. At least for me, it isn't if Jeff is qualified or not. It's about the assistants that a new head coach needs. Jeff was the perfect fit for McDermott, but not quite as perfect for Fred. I think Jeff will do a great job no matter what role he has on the staff. In a perfect world, I think you would have him do administrative/mentoring things for a year or two and then he could become a regular assistant.

As said weeks ago when this was originally discussed this is a great hire.

However, I find all of the back handed swipes at Grayer and many of you appearing to be concerned about him as one of our assistants to be insulting. His lack of experience seems to be a deal-breaker for many of you but you don't have any similar concerns with FH...very curious.
You seem to find everything insulting.

Trying to keep message board posters in line is futile.

Looking at Lutz's resume he was just as qualified as McDermott was to be our HC and he comes in as an assistant. Great Hire.

Probably more so. Plus, Charlotte is paying him $237,000/year for the next four years. We probably can make is such that they are subsidizing some of his Cyclone salary.
