This is a great hire. It was going to take someone pretty special to fill the role that Fred needed with this assistant. I am very impressed with Bobby after listening to his interview and how he is embrasing his role even though he is more qualified to be the head coach. Of course, maybe he wants some cover if this whole thing doesn't work out!
For the poster who talked about Grayer and how some don't seem to think he is qualified to be an assistant. At least for me, it isn't if Jeff is qualified or not. It's about the assistants that a new head coach needs. Jeff was the perfect fit for McDermott, but not quite as perfect for Fred. I think Jeff will do a great job no matter what role he has on the staff. In a perfect world, I think you would have him do administrative/mentoring things for a year or two and then he could become a regular assistant.
