I’m not sure I’d go that far but I know he had passed some scholarship guys up.

Well the only other scholarship guy he could have passed was Dekkers. There were plenty of whispers last year that it was Cook in 3rd place last year and not Bouman. So this isn’t surprising.

Rocco seems like a kid Campbell will love so I’m guessing he’ll be unofficially 2nd string next year.

Rocco enrolled early. That helps.

Yeah, that’s know that. But I’d bet Rocco doesn’t start the season as the backup on paper. But I bet he will unofficially be second.

I bet Rocco is the first QB to take a snap that is not Dekkers.

I’d tend to agree with you. I also don’t think he’ll be listed as second string to start the season.

Pipeline still looks strong. Only one QB can play at once. We are in on some strong 4* guys this year. Rocco appears to be as advertised.

I assume Dekkers is a capable runner because of his athleticism; however he may take less hits than Brock because of his quick release and pocket presence. Keep him healthy.
Dekkers has been pretty impressive running the ball in his limited action. He has at least 2 longer TD runs.

Rocco Becht emerging as the backup to Dekkers. Bouman not in the running. Makes sense if he wants to play.
No inside info but that seems most likely to me too-- I'm in 2nd waiting my turn, and suddenly the new younger guy is great and puts me in 3rd. Either I am OK being a backup or I want to play and have to go elsewhere.

Good luck to Aidan, I hope he finds success somewhere! Important to remember they are all just young men trying to figure their lives out.

Also quite a bit bigger, so might be more durable (though Brock was amazingly durable throughout his career, it feels like they protected him by limiting his running game to an extent).

As I posted last Friday after watching the limited scrimmage, it was clear Rocco had already passed Bouman, so the writing was on the wall.

I wish Bouman the very best and I thank him for choosing ISU out of high school and for being a great team member the last two years. He deserves to find a place where he'll be happy.

Jared's story refers to Glantz as a walk-on. That's news to me. Glantz was listed on 247 as a transfer so they thought he was on scholarship. So by my count, we have 81 guys on scholarship for this Fall.

Good luck to the young man.

Rocco looked legit for the brief time I watched the practice in Ames.
