Haha yes sir. It's good stuff. I haven't had any other bbq in CR. I should try Willie Ray's since he does so much humanitarian stuff.

I went to a place like 10 years ago right next to 380 that isn't there any more. It was very "no frills".

But Q Dogs is the one I was thinking of when I made my first post. That place is better than any chain BBQ I've ever had.

Starbecks is very, very legit. (And considerably better than Blue barn).

Blue Barn has an identity crisis.

He came from fine dining and upscale restaurants and he still tries to add some of that to what he does but he also wants it to just be a BBQ shack. It's a weird combination. It's not bad by any means but it's certainly not what you think of when you think of traditional BBQ.

Totally agree that Starbecks is the better traditional BBQ joint.

Maybe. I’ve had it multiple times and it just plain wasn’t good. I’ve never been disappointed with Starbecks. My only gripes with them would be things on a level of “well it’s not quite like how I would cook/smoke it”. They are always atleast a C+, even when eaten catered in.

Guess I'll have to try the one in Counciltuckey

Could try the ones in Emmetsburg and Storm Lake when I go to Algona for the Freedom Rally

Slightly OT, but it looks like the BBQ place Curvey and DeAndre Jackson opened (unrvld) is closed. That sucks; their brisket was the best around.

That’s a bummer to hear since that was my preferred place in Des Moines. Truth be told, I was a little disappointed the last time I ate it.

Al & Irene's? That was very no frills, just off Blairs Ferry, just off 380.

The winner of this Iowa BBQ bracket probably would be a 16 seed in KC or Texas

Not necessarily on actual quality.

If you told a Texan a literal piece of cow **** came from the Hill Country they’d argue it was better than BBQ from any where.

There’s great BBQ all over the place now. Iowa has some really good spots.

Agree. Great food of all styles all over the place. Best burger I've ever had was at a place most known for its seafood in Beaufort, SC.

Talked to Curvey at the Kolache shop this winter, he sold it then it closed, but he said it was a tough go. Covid didn't help it out any.
