Both Vitale and Bilas are spot on. NCAA's "investigation" took eight years - eight - only after Syracuse self-reported the violations, and this is all they could come up with? Give me a break.
They're just sticking it to Boeheim for being critical of NCAA leadership in the past. Guess they got their pound of flesh...

All they could come up with? They bastardized pretty much every aspect of compliance.

It's funny how much all these guys want things cleaned up until that includes someone they like.

Bilas is a moron. I used to think he was okay but not really anymore.

Bilas basically said that the coach can't be responsible for everything. He questioned those that said JB 'should know' what happens in the classroom, with boosters, and with agents. All knowing Jay said JB should just responsible for the court.
Some truth with not being able to be everywhere at all times, but look what happended at UCLA. Wooden knew for years what happened with a big booster, and just looked the other way.
To think everything was on the up and up at Syracuse is laughable and Vitale, Bilas, and the rest of the good ole boy club know that to a larger extent than most. In Bilas' world, go after the univesity president, not the coach. The coach can't be responsible for the millions they are paid!!

So who should know? If the coaches aren't responsible and we can't punish the athletic department because the kids that are there didn't do it, then what's their plan to enforce these rules?

Bilas is pretty transparent in his hatred of anything the NCAA does. I can't even listen to him anymore because of all his negativity. Even when calling games he just constantly criticizes the guys on the floor that they should have done this or that. Just turning into an old bitter man.

I still like to listen to Bilas, but you're right, his dismay for the NCAA is starting to go to the "I'm the only one who gets it" level.

He also constantly harps on the refs for "absolutely awul" calls. I don't mind someone commenting here and there but I believe it was the Arizona-Utah game where he just wouldn't stop with the whining.
