I struggle to think of a better two way player for us since I’ve been watching ISU basketball (which is a long time). Very few have had multiple 30 point outbursts and those capable offensively were not locking down the top scorer in the country and projected lottery pick on the other end (giving up 4 inches by the way). This is not to mention 10 boards (5 offensive).

The energy and intensity required to play at that level on both ends is ridiculous. That was a special performance tonight.

Jeff Grayer. To be fair, Brockington isn't in that conversation yet, but Jeff was 4 time All Big 8 defensive team, and was a scoring machine too.

He tore Iowa apart. Best thing about it, when we started putting it on and maintaining the lead Brockington just kept player faster and harder. Relentless.

They were a bit sloppy at the end but the whole team was still just relentless up to the final minute. Poking at the ball, up in their mugs.

Iowa's players looked relieved to be done with it.

I am old and have attended most games since the Orr years. If Brockington continues to play like he has been, he is showing flashes of my all time favorite...Jeff Grayer. Size wise, rebounding, scoring, all around hustle and game IQ. Nobody has ever done it as well as Grayer but Brockington is giving me flashbacks. And Grayer was part of the birth of Hilton Magic...
I have always thought the birth of Hilton Magic was the THREE OVERTIME THRILLER WITH BARRY STEVENS & CO....

THE HOK FANS WERE REALLY PISSED OFF AFTER THAT GAME!!

There are players who have off the chart athletic abilities, and there are players who have motors that never stop, but there are very few players that have both. This guy is one of them.

When you add his humility to the mix, you have something really special. His incredible attitude is infectious and he's on the verge of making his team really special.

Wikipedia was Wrong It WAS the IOWA game the first time Johnny Orr ever beat the hoks....I know because I LIVED IT!!

That was a more impressive win than No. 3 Missouri?

Were there fans talking about Hilton Magic after?

Yeah I think they (ISU) were just tired. They played really hard last night.

On another note I feel like Condit saw that coming. He was the first one out on the floor out of the locker room by about 50 yards. He got up off the bench during some rough times for us and got the crowd loud. That guy knew what Iowa had coming for them.

I try to resist comparing current players to former ones--but from a fan's perspective, I get it. I did, though, nod in agreement when I read Stansbury giving him Melvin Ejim comparisons. To me, that means he's tough as hell and is leading by example in practice, in games, off the court. We're lucky to have Mr Brockington in cardinal and gold.

I'm really surprised Ejim's name isn't brought up more. I think people just have young Ejim engrained in them and still don't appreciate how good he was when he was the CPOTY. Brockington has the advantage where his measurables are more in line with the position he is asked to play.

I’m not sure if we have had a player really like him before. I can’t think of anyone to compare him to.

I think this team is very comparable to Floyd's second team in '95-'96. That team's top 5 scorers were all newcomers and played really really hard on the defensive end of the court (led defensively by Shawn Bankhead).

I think the best comp I can think of for Brockington is Dedric Willoughby. Dedric was more of a shooter and less of a driver/dunker and wasn't the defensive stopper that IZB is, but he's more similar than anyone else I can think of.
