Bryce Miller Article on Jake Knott..... Really???

The theme of the article overall has good meaning behind, it but one statement really sticks out to how little DSMReg knows about Iowa State football and college football in general.
'More than anything, he saw a football player when few others did. Undersized? The coach didn’t care.'

Does anyone really think that Knott as a LBer is undersized?? Maybe coming into college, but not many true freshmen are at playing weight right away, I would hardly consider him undersized now though, 6'3" 252, to me that is an NFL sized LBer. To me statements like that though overall the article is not meant this way, come across as disrespectful to Iowa State football.... Writers like this need to be researched a lot more.
 
Umm...you might want to consider the fact that up until this season, Jake was listed at 6'1"...maybe that has something to do with it. Of course, maybe he's grown since then.
 
He wasn't undersized, IMO, but I wouldn't say it's disrespectful to Iowa State or Jake Knott. It's his opinion, and if Rhoads is willing to take undersized kids and they turn out to be as great as he was, it's a compliment.

he is not undersized now and the article in no way indicates that anyone thinks he is. when he was a senior in HS, yes. Now? no. you misread this. there is nothing to be knit picked.

6'1" 252, do your research man, look at NFL rosters, true linebackers are comparable in size.....

His rivals page has him listed at 6'3" 227 out of high school.. that's pretty huge. I mean, if that listing is actually true. :twitcy:
 
Sorry, you all might not read into it this way but when a writer give respect to a player, it seems a little back handed to ISU based on historical, they are still throwing backhanded complements, even as a Senior in HS Knott was 6'1" 215-220, this is throwing the overall view of HOKS fans into this generalizing Cyclone recruits and stating them as undersized, even when they are not.
 
According to Rivals he was 6-3, 227 lbs coming out of high school. Not small.

But, I wouldn't get worked up about it. The writer was just trying to show that Knott was overlooked and blossomed into an awesome football player under Rhoads and Wally.

Again, as I said, I thought overall this was a good article but I just thought that it over all seemed like a backhanded complement. BS to me....

Honestly? If it's a mystery (especially to CPR) as to why Jake was underrecruited in high school, saying "undersized" is just as good an explanation as any other. No biggie.

I won't complain. He wound up a Cyclone, after all.

Sorry to disappoint you but I'm a Cyclone fan, just like you. The only difference is that I'm secure enough as a Clone that I don't seek out things that might be perceived as negative towards ISU. But to each their own. Carry on.
