Why trade him to Dallas when that is exactly what he wants?

I still say trade him to Jacksonville. I don't care if all they get is a 7th round pick at this point. It's better than letting Dallas have him.

why? Who cares? Trade him to the place where you can get the most value for him. Getting all petty about it might feel good in the short term, but cooler heads ought to prevail. If he's hell bent on not playing for Minnesota next year, then by all means, get what you can and get out. he's got a huge cap number, so get it off the books and move on.

Indianapolis looks the best to me. Lot's of cap space, they value RBs that can carry the full load, they're willing to trade for a RB, and they are a playoff team who wants to improve and is ready to compete right now.

God, I hope not. Why invest heavily in a running back when nobody else in the league is? I'm not denying AP's ability; he's a great back. But he's also approaching 30, he's got a lot of mileage, and he carries a high cap number at a position where adequate production can be had pretty cheap. And the Colts have plenty of other holes to fill, namely along the o line and d line. Best to fill those holes with younger free agents coming into their prime and draft picks on rookie scale contracts.

Why? Because I despise the Cowboy's and don't like the fact that Peterson made it clear before the abuse charges that he would rather play for them than the Vikings. It's like rewarding him for being a low life.
Sure it's petty, but I don't own the team so it doesn't matter what I think at all.

Of course I would rather get the best value that you could. It just bothers me that it seems his camp is dictating what the Vikings should be doing.

Is it petty to want Minnesota to gouge Dallas for everything they can get to make up for the Hershel Walker trade? Cuz if it is, them I'm a petty SOB

While I understand that Mike Lynn thought Walker was going to be the missing piece to the Super Bowl, I can't believe how much he gave up in that insane trade. It's like he didn't read the fine print.

It's surprising to me that almost nobody knows the true story to that trade.

It wasn't an overpayment, it was terrible recklessness with offering draft pucks if they cut certain players. The Vikings wanted to keep their picks, they didn't think Dallas would cut those guys. That was the blunder in the trade.

Reggie Bush and Steven Jackson are available at the moment. If the Vikes don't think AP wants to be back they need to move fast so they can possibly act on one of these two.

Neither of those guys are every down backs anymore. Bush never was. They can add depth at the RB position but this is a deep draft for running backs. Younger, cheaper players will be available.

Given AP's age and new found reputation, I don't think there is a team out there who would pay him $10 mil plus in free agency. So, I don't understand why teams would give draft picks to the Vikes to put themselves in that same situation.

Ap isn't going near 2k yards ever again.

In Free Agents? Name them....Bush and Jackson would both be solid additions.

Vereen, Ingram, Forsett, Spiller and Murray if he leaves Dallas. They're going to franchise tag Dez so it's possible. I'm not saying I wouldn't take Bush but I wouldn't even want Jackson.

I'd go with Murray or any number of guys in the draft. There at least five in the draft that I would take before any FA other than Murray. Murray would be worth the money, otherwise save some cash and draft a rookie in the 2nd or 3rd round.
