Columbia area is nice. The way Iowa is going lately it isn't too far behind Missouri right now.
I moved to Columbia from St Louis in 2007. Not sure when you were in Columbia last but crime has exploded here since I moved. The city gets $400 million a year from the state legislature to prop up the college and there is money in this town but I avoid downtown unless I have to go there.

Been to Columbia once for this past year’s game and there was a drive by shooting near the college bars we were at.

I wish him nothing but the best from this point forward, and I hope he conquers his demons.

That being written, living in a sh!thole, a$$ backwards, white trash filled state like Missouri would be very harmful for my own personal mental health, but to each their own...
Not like Iowa is any better...I feel like both states are pretty similar culturally

Lol, I got nothing then. I have an aunt that lives there and her area was really nice. Beyond that Missouri is a nightmare.

On Mizzou... Do they have a point guard?

Caleb Grill, Tamar Bates, and John Tonje were their offseason additions along with a highly rated JuCo wing. Return Noah Carter and I can't tell who if any other notables.

The famous example is that guy who's leg imploded or whatever during the NCAAs, right, with Huggins getting really involved to comfort him.

Yep. Believe the announcers were even moved with that scene. Not going to lie, so was I..

What the hell is Iowa then?

This is more fit for the Cave, but as long as we're on the subject there was an effort by the legislative branch of the state government (and you can guess as to which party controls the state of Missouri) to eliminate funding for public libraries. Thankfully, and I'll give credit when and where it's due, it died in committee. I don't like seeing what's happening politically to my home state of Iowa either, but as far as I know they haven't tried to do that (yet).

I stand by my antipathy and hatred towards the state of Missouri and based on stuff like what I wrote above I'll even double down on it, unpopular as that might be considering the negative reactions I got to my first post. With the exception of Kansas City (a truly great, underrated American city), possibly St. Louis (which I've only driven through), and maybe Columbia the state of Missouri is a miserable, meth-ridden nightmare. There is a reason why "Ozark" was set where it was. I will make my stand on this hill.

All that being written I really do hope Caleb has a good season there. I do like their head coach and I was hoping that he would get a look a couple of years ago during the coaching transition (and I hope it goes without saying or writing that I am very happy with TJ).

I once went to a gas station in the late 2010s in Missouri that only sold r.c. cola products. Felt like I stopped off in 1957.
